The two best receivers in the SEC after they get the ball in their hands. The key to slowing them down is limiting yards after the catch. This is especially true with Cooper, because he is going to get his catches, you just have to mitigate the damage.

For shits and gigs, I hunted down their yards per completion statistics against common opponents.

Against Arkansas:
Cooper: 11
Coates: 13

Against Ole Miss:
Cooper: 10.11
Coates: 24.4

Against A&M:
Cooper: 17.5
Coates: 29

Against LSU:
Cooper: 10.375
Coates: 36

Against Mississippi State (Apparently the worst secondary anywhere):
Coates: 7.33

The conclusion is that Coates is considerably more dangerous when he gets the ball; however, Alabama does a far better job of getting the rock to Cooper. So far, State has been the only team to consistently contain Coates after the catch, I have no reason to believe they won't do the same against an inferior athlete come Saturday.

Grind on.

Ask any pro scout who they would rather have. Or any college football coach for that matter.

Never heard a Bama fan cuss or complain the first time about Cooper. There were a lot of Awbs cussing Coates last week against aTm.

Cooper has better hands. Coates has a tendency to drop easy balls. Williams is a better comparison to Cooper.

You guys will limit Cooper's yards easily.

His 2 TD catches from inside the 10 won't hurt this argument.

Coates is an athletic freak, but a work in progress as a receiver.

Cooper is an excellent receiver.

Phenomenal work skirp. Interesting to say the least. I hope our "shitty" secondary tightens up this weekend.

Coates isn't even the best WR on his team, and Treadwell is the 2nd best with the ball in his hands.

But it's a good grind

One of us has an incredible statistical advantage, on both sides of the ball, in the redzone. It isn't Bama.
