and other awards to a lesser degree? Seems there is hardly any interest or talk about the Heisman, which is kinda odd this late in the season. I know there isn't a lot from the conference in the mix, but still....

Two horse race between Dak and Mariota. If State wins Saturday you can give it to Dak then, lose and Mariota will be the leader and both will have work left.

Wouldn't say that it's not as big a deal, there are just only two guys with a shot and there have only been two for about a month now.

The Heisman race isn't as exciting. No one player seems to flash "Heisman" at you every time you watch them.

None of the candidates are really that impressive this year. Dak is good, but he got off to a really fast start. The best Heisman years are when guys have a huge game late and start dominating.

Agree to an extent. Mariota is better than Jameis or Cam ever thought about being in college. Dak is good but at the same time is nowhere near his full potential as a QB.

But is it less exciting, because the playoff talk is so big and anticipated now? It's really almost nonexistent at this point.

I you serious right now? Cam Newton was insane during his Heisman season.

Compare his stats to Dak, then compare them both to Mariota. Cam's stats aren't what I remembered them as, Mariota has been just insanely good.

Melvin Gordon and Gurley are better.

Mariota is currently the leader from seemingly everyone on ESPN. It probably should go to Dak but I think he's on the outside looking in at the moment.

The Heisman was turning into a popularity contest anyways. More than it already was, tbh.

If the playoff takes some of the emphasis off the individuals and places it back on the teams, I'm cool with that.

I think, though, that this year there's just not been an overwhelming flashy candidate more than anything.

Heisman is only entertaining when you have guys carrying teams on their backs or making big flashy plays. No one this year really does that.

Cam, Manziel are perfect examples of this.

Eh, to this point in the season, Dak is on pace with them. More passing yards than Cam, more rushing than Manziel. He's on pace to account for 45 total TD's if we make it to the natty.

Well, there's no thieves, drug users or rapists in the running this year, so... not as news worthy.

It sounds dumb, but Dak doesnt seem to have any of the signature "Holy shite!" moments that manziel or Cam had. Some call that the Heisman moment, I have not seen Dak have one. Stats or not, if you can't put up a hype video of incredible plays, then its very possible that they will be overlooked for that wow factor guy, unless its a down year.

He's had quite a few honestly. The run against LSU where he stiff armed the defender being one. Not to mention he has a QB rating of over 200 on third down, somehow he finds a way to scramble and turn 3rd downs into tuddies on the reg.

Obviously I'm partial to him, but I think he's had some really impressive plays.
