Will the winner be recognized by the NCAA as the official National Champion? If so, wouldn't this be the first time ever?

Who the frick cares? The winner will be recognized as the national champion by all 128 members of the NCAA FBS...as they have been since the beginning of the BCS. Who the frick cares whether or not the letters NCAA appear on the trophy, if all 128 members of said organization recognize it as such?

The NCAA recognizes past national champions on its website. It's just never awarded any for college football.

I think the NCAA tends to recognize most of them. They just don't make the decision themselves. That is, they would "recognize" any BCS champion as a factual issue, just not as an official endorsement of who they think should be champion.
