A lot has been made by pundits and jackasses alike that the Big 12 is up there with the PAC-12 and SEC. I only saw Big 12 action in passing this year so I decided to give it a fair shake on Saturday with two huge match ups on tap.

Ho-ly. frick. It's like watching the Phoenix Suns from the Amare/Nash/Marion era when they just said "lulz frick defense, lets just get the ball back and score some more." I know there are some that would rather watch 62-59 games but give me Bama-LSU defensive battles all day over that shite.

It's not only horrible to watch, how can anyone put one of those teams into the playoff. If a team surrenders a shite-ton of points and still wins, it doesn't make them a great team. It means they're great on one side of the ball and fricking awful on the other side.

If an SEC team is scoring 24 points and winning the game with solid defense, it means they have a good defense and usually a clock-controlling offense which at times looks dominant.

I guess the point of this rant is this: does anyone else find that shite unwatchable too or is it just me?

Probably just you. I've seen better defense in some big 12 games than I've seen in a lot of SEC games. Mainly games with UGA, Auburn, or Mississippi St. prominently involved out of the top 6 teams, but also USC and A&M aren't any better than a lot of the big 12 teams.

On top of that K State did hold Auburn to 20 points which is pretty dang impressive considering the firepower of that offense and TCU held a not terrible Minnesota team to 7 points.

I don't like watching Big 12 games either, but it's a little disingenuous to act like none of them can play defense, or that they're all bad. Oklahoma beat Bama last year, K-State played Auburn tough, and TCU and Baylor would give any SEC team a run for their money

It is unwatchable shite, until they do the same unwatchable shite to an SEC team. Then it's gold Jerry.

Like a child farting or cussing in church, you just knew that a UofH@College Station fan, would defend Big-12 Basketball on Turf honor..

It's not enough that Tejas 7-on-7 has diseased Tex HS ball, UT, and ATM..now you're trying to infect the SEC.

Any SEC team?

TCU and Baylor look good in their own little Big 12 world. Which right now is one fricked up weird world.

Either one of these teams would be exposed outside of the B12. That's what makes the playoffs legit. If they make it, any one of the balanced SEC teams would dispose of them with ease.

Even you guys would give them fits. If their offense isn't on the field, they aren't going to score 60 pts.

I'm not buying anything that those teams do. Mizzou has lived that life, once your weaknesses are exposed, they get exploited against good teams. There aren't any good teams in the B12 to exploit their weaknesses.

True, but bowl games/motivations, one game takes,etc..don't paint a 13 gm season picture for any school.

In today's NCAA, most any Title Gm contender from most any conference, if not many participants(not named Bama) have a game or two a year minimum, where 30+ is dropped on them, Take away SEC teams and you could probably safely say a 40+ or two.

It's just the way they keep adjusting the rules for NCAA and NFL Offenses.

My youngest enjoys watching it. I asked him why the other day when he wanted me to leave it on one of their games. His answer...because they don't play defense and I like to see how many points they can score. It's the softest football around.

living here in Arizona and watching the PAC 10 or 12 it is a joke. The defensive lines are slow and no where near as big. Arizona starts at nose tackle who is 5 foot 10 and 245 pounds, can you believe that?

I think judging teams based on this is fairly retarded. Teams match up differently and it can be very hard to judge, especially when completely different styles clash. Teams can be good because they have a great offense, defense or are just balanced.

That said, the Big 12 is completely undeserving this year. Their entire conference's best OOC win is against Minnesota, and sadly, it's by a fairly wide margin over their next best win. You can't always control scheduling, the quality of opponent, etc, but we're talking about 10 teams. Their conference resume flat sucks.

It really seems to represent this young up and coming generation of pussies pretty well. Reminds me of sandlot flag football. It's not the kind of football I grew up with. I like seeing aggressive, physical defense where both teams are trying to knock each others dick in the dirt. Football to me is still the Steelers-Raiders games I used to watch growing up in the 70's.

Ironically, that team's kryptonite was a defensive juggernaut that went out of character to beat them at their own game.

Texas Tech is the Big 12 equivalent to Arkansas in the SEC. As far as the "Top to Bottom Conference Strength Debate", we're about as equal as you could get. That said, we scored 49 against them this year and beat them by 21 on the road.

I'm not watching it, but look forward to the contrast in styles come Bowl season.

Generally speaking, defense will beat offense in any sport. But when it devolves into clutching and grabbing and it's called "defense", I'd rather be stabbed in the eye with a sharp stick than watch it.
