Say Bama beats MSU this weekend and the committee decide to move Bama up to #2 and drop MSU to #4. If all the teams in the top 4 go on to win out, could there be a possibility of them remaining #2 and #4, opening the door for an all-SEC National Championship game?

ETA: Or does the committee rearrange MSU and UA and have them play each other?

I get the feeling in the rare case of two teams from the same conference making it, the committee will game the seedings to have those two teams play in the first round, to avoid an all-same conference title game.

Alabama would be #1 and MSU #4.

Given that Oregon leap frogged an undefeated FSU, if Alabama wins out they'd probably end up at #1 just for that very reason, to specifically play #4 MSU in the first round.

Good question. A lot of football left. Probably best to try and win out because you never know. Don't look for the back door - State has a chance to crash right through the front door. Don't frick it up like AU!

Yeah not losing is MSU's only sure thing.

I think an 11-1 MSU team would deserve a bid.

Given that committee will be hesitant to put 2 teams from the same conference and given that MSU is not a "brand name" team, there's a strong possibility they'd put some garbage team like Ohio State over you.

It's not fair or right, but a strong possibility.

I don't see this committee really using the "brand" mentality though. I don't see how a 1-loss MSU team misses the playoff, given that loss was to a #5 UA team.
