Were Bama's last two drives called 100% by Lane?

I know Saban took a shot at him at the half, but those last two drives were the result of near perfect play calling. Assuming that was all Lane, his leash should be longer this week. Those last two drives were some of the better ones I've watched all year.

Based on the way we played the entire game I'd say Lane was pretty much allowed to do whatever he wanted the entire way.

I honestly thought he called a pretty decent game, Blake was just throwing the ball all over the place for the first 58 minutes. The only thing I had an issue with was throwing so many fades. Once it became clear the officials were going to let DB's play physical we really should have scrapped that. Those plays are so low percentage. Also, we really ran the ball pretty efficiently on power plays and stretches and we just kind of stopped doing it.

However, a lot of the route concepts he had planned got guys open. Blake just missed a bunch of guys and Coop dropped a few balls.

Lane is a great playcaller and has an incredibly high recognition IQ of what the defense is doing and how to attack it.

Saban obviously didn't have the leash on him during the game. I know he hated the run/pass ratio. I thought the play calling most of the game was questionable. The last 2 drives were masterful.

What did Saban say at halftime? I missed that.

Basically that we got a little too fade happy and he didn't like having so many of those low percentage type plays.

He was right.

Something along the lines of not being happy throwing down field that much. Don't remember the exact quote.

Just that he thought we had been taking too many shots downfield.

I'm guessing most of those fades were checks that Blake made seeing coverage pre snap. He just wasn't making the throws at all. Probably should have stayed with what was called.

Yep - agree. And stuff like that is why us playing at home is such a big deal compared to the road.

Lane can make those checks all over the field at home, he can't on the road except for basically from 35 to 35 and even then it is spotty.

That seems much more likely.

I'll have to say, I was wrong about Lane. I was laughing along with everyone else when he was hired, but I was thoroughly impressed with what he did Saturday.

Saban bought this guy to be a play caller .....let him have it.

That shot at half time was for public consumption.

LSU defended well for 58 minutes and lost.....saw this movie before.
If they want to play it this close to the vest....they need to defend 60+
minutes.
