Coming down for the game this weekend - what are some suggestions for a place to grab lunch on Saturday?

Thanks.

The Dickson area has lots and lots of choices from food trucks, sandwich shops, to fine dining. What are you looking for?

I think the Walmart has those pre-made pizzas and chickens and stuff. Try that

Preferably a sports bar probably - a place to eat lunch, have some beers, and watch a little football before tailgating.

Here's a suggestion. As long as you are reasonably fit, and don't have a campus parking pass already, just park in one of the municipal parking areas off Dickson Street. It will cost $5 for the whole day. You can eat and drink around that area and then walk over the hill through campus to the stadium. Be advised, it is not all that far, distance-wise, but it is uphill both ways.

Favorites in that area:

Food & Drink:
Deluxe Burger LINK
Hammontrees yum
Arsaga's LINK
Table on the Hill LINK
Grubs
Theo's LINK
Bordino's LINK
Doe's
Wasabi LINK
Farrell's (great sports bar) LINK
Green Submarine (great sandwiches)
Shultertown (food trucks) food trucks yay
Jose's (not great except for patio)

Bars, Drinks only, although some won't be open at lunch time:

George's (since 1927)
Bugsy's
Mickey Finn's (this one will be open and I think is the closest bar to campus, smoker friendly)
Buster's
Brewski's (smoker friendly)
Common Grounds
Smoke & Barrel
Sideways (sports bar, next to Farrell's another sports bar)
Kingfish (smoker friendly)
Dickson Pub
21st amendment
Roger's Rec (smoker friendly)

There are some others, but that's a good rundown of options within about 2 square blocks on Dickson.

Just wanted to reiterate that this is not a joke, there are multiple hills on the way to campus so it really is uphill both ways.

Thanks a lot - that sounds like a pretty good plan to park there and work our way to the stadium.

Hugo's has the best burgers. It is a busy joint under the street. Best burgers and fries.

The most efficient (and most scenic) way to the stadium from Dickson is to head across Old Main Lawn once you hit the corner of Arkansas Ave & Dickson. Its where Kappa Sig is (accurate photo for this weekend):

Go up the steps onto Old Main lawn there and follow sidewalks and people over the hill. That's the easiest way to the stadium. If you go straight down Dickson, it goes uphill, then downhill, then back up and its a lot more extreme. Plus you miss the main quad.

Go up these steps here.

Is the Old Post Office still around? It was a hot bar back in the late 80's.

The building is still there but nothing has really been able to ever survive in there. It's always been a continually rotation of things.

Fayetteville is a hidden gem. Great road trip. Fund scene on Dickson Street too.

A couple of other F'ville memories -
A bar where you could drink "around the world". Once you filled your card of all the beers, they would engrave a stein for you and have it on a shelf waiting for you when you came in.
There was a chicken place that I loved... AQ or something.
Last one, a mexican place that had commercials with the guy yelling "Chimichangas, chimichangas, chimichangas". I think Windy Austin and the Hot House tomato boys used to play there.
