The SEC is a frickin billion dollar industry. It's about time we move on from hiring insurance salesmen to call some of the biggest games in the country week after week.

We can afford it...hire a full time officiating crew that does nothing but call SEC games. February through August they can attend training seminars and professional development shite, I don't know. But it's absurd that we are putting the outcomes of major games in the hands of people who have other primary jobs and only focus on this a few months of the year.

The rule is you can attend an SEC school, but cannot ever referee a game played by that school. My father had a great personal friend whose brother was a referee for many years. Guy was a UT graduate, but by conference rule, could never referee a UT game.

I think thats good enough. Whether they do all that background check stuff, I would assume now they do.
