If you are a fan of country gold you should check out Sturgill Simpson. I found out about him on the music board. He should be the face of country music IMO.

Country music is in a sad state right now. Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Brantley Gilbert etc. etc, are all "country" musicians that you should have never heard of. Simpson will be well known one of these days since he is going to be country music's savior. Trust me, I am real country, country to the core.

Well, that's not a great endorsement.

No, I like music. Not drunk rednecks crying into their Jack Daniels about how their wife stole the John Deer and ran over the dog when she left.

That's a pretty shallow stereotype. Not all country is shitty Nashville pop country. It's a pretty wide genre.

Just out of curiosity, what do you consider good?

It's a psychoanalysitical country album written on DMT. If I was in town Id be there, Sturgill would be a heavyweight in any generation of music, regardless of genre

It's been dead for years. Garth killed it.

Much like Green Day killed punk.

If we're talking about what used to be called country: Cash, Hank Sr. and Jr., Jennings, Jones, and Nelson.

I got excited as all hell when I first saw that he was playing. Then I realized I'm on call this week, so I beat the hell of of my dog.

It's a long list, but it has definitely been killed.

Garth and George are two of the last remaining true country artists.

Saw him at Terminal West in Atlanta a few weeks ago and drove down to Macon this past weekend to see him again. Best show I've seen in the past two years, and I've been to some good ones.

I absolutely detest pop country and nothing is more loathsome than hick-hop like Jason Aldean.
