SEC on CBS broadcast discussion

Actually I have a couple things to cover here.
First off, I can't stand Gary and Verne. We've all dealt with these jack holes every Saturday afternoon or evening for what, over a decade? They make egregious errors several times a broadcast. Gary likes to take a topic or a cause and mercilessly run it in to the ground, often making something out of nothing while even the most basic viewer knows there's nothing to it, and Verne is just Verne. He prattles on and babbles through mute points occasionally insulting a player or a fan base to its very core.
Anyways..they suck. Feel free to support or trash them here.
Another thing. I don't know if this has been talked about here but one of the coolest things in recent years broadcast wise is the Spidercam Feed on ESPN3/WatchESPN. You can tune in to it and catch the entire pregame for the Saturday night game. I discovered it this year and it really has been a joy to basically get the entire in-game experience without having to be there. Of course, I'd much rather be at the games but when I'm at home watching this feature has been really nice IMHO. It's really cool to experience other schools pre-games that I wouldn't normally get to see. I usually flip it back to regular broadcast once the game has started.
Question is- is there anything remotely like this featured by CBS, perhaps on their CBS Sports app or something?
Other than Verne and Gary I have no other complaints about CBS's entire broadcast. My SO really likes the studio guy. Go figure.

You will no doubt be correct. Honestly, I welcomed Musberger's voice when he did MSU on SECnetwork this weekend.

Well Musburger screwed up too. He started the broadcast by saying welcome to Starksville, MS.

I don't get the hate for Gary and Verne. Verne is so old I can't fault him for messing up a few names and Gary can be strongly opinionated but he usually has a reason for his opinion and if we don't agree on something, big deal. He does have good analysis and I think in general they do a pretty good job. My complaint with CBS is how long they drag the game out with commercials and sometimes try to manufacture drama to make the game seem more significant.

There actually is on their mobile app. Right next to the Watch Live button should be a Watch All 22 button. It's the spider cam and it zooms in and out to maintain all 22 players on the field on screen at all times. Way better than ESPN's spider can in my opinion, but unfortunately its delayed a lot more than WatchESPN usually is and there is no support for Smart TVs/Media Centers.

If you listen to the HD CBS Broadcast on a Home Theater, disconnect the Center channel speaker & listen Without Commentators. Ymmv.

CBS length of games is just stupid. Couple that with a passing attack that stops the clock at every first down and you're looking at a 5 hour broadcast.

At least I will, they are like Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese, Dandy Don and others who were unique sports casters that gave color to sports

I like Verne and Gary.
Whoever called the Auburn - Texas A&M game, on the other hand... they were absolutely horrible. Almost unbearable. The only redeeming quality to the broadcast was the outcome.

That's my only problem with them. Even when they are totally wrong, they'll keep pounding their opinion for 15 minutes.
Other than that, I like them.

I take it you have never played the Verne drinking game?
Once you do, Verne becomes the greatest broadcaster of all time
Even with that being said, the FOX announcers are grinding to the ears and Brent Musberger is way worse by his actual intentions. With radio long since dead it is really impossible to believe you will ever get a really good announcer in the future. It takes the training from radio - without pictures - to really create good folks for games.
Last year I watched the BCS game on the channel that was event sounds only and really liked it.

AJ gets his face mask literally ripped off and all these two bozos can come up with after watching two replays of this blatant non-call on an obvious PF is some BS about how smart AJ is for 'faking' injury so he can get his face mask fixed.
Holy WTF, Batman!

There so many games now the TV guys have become watered down. Those of us that remember the one game on saturday, well you had Keith Jacksuuuuuun. When CBS started full-time college football telecasts in 82, I think, we had Musberger and/or Lindsay Nelson. Great broadcaster, great voices. I honestly don't know who does games now. Verne and Brent are old school and we wil miss them when they retire.

I miss the days of watching the UGA game with the volume down and listening to Larry Munson call the game on the radio.
