Flashback: LSU student tailgating as 'Bama fans highlighted LSU's belligerence

Almost every tailgate spot we visited greeted us with the same expressions. The women called us "bitches," and the men called us "counts" followed by the traditional "Rip. Rip. Rip. Rap. Rap. Rap. You ‘Bama girls got the clap, clap, clap!" cheer.And if that wasn't enough, the amount of times we were spit on also struck a nerve.

I'm sure everybody knows someone's neighbor's grandma that this has happened to, but I simply don't believe it.
I have been going to games for roughly 25 years now, and been to around 30 different venues to watch SEC football and I have never once in my life seen someone get spit on while tailgating.

You obviously missed what the story was about. It was LSU student paper reporters going into the tailgate crowd dressed as gumps and reporting on the behavior towards them.
Let me repeat that for the hard of understanding: LSU students dressed as Bama fans, and reporting on the experience.

This. There is no fricking way that several groups called these girls counts. I've never seen anything close to that on any SEC campus, and certainly not in the 15 years I've been regularly on LSU's campus.
ETA: It would not shock me if these girls got friends at tailgates to act this way just to make a story.

well that part is definitely believable. That's just using foul language, which happens on every campus every gameday. But the physical act of spitting on someone (and it happening multiple times) is just a little too over the top IMO.

I had some trashy redneck bammer trying to fight my entire tailgate because I was yelling rip rip rip rap rap rap Bama bitches have the clap clap clap while they walked by 
It was like watching an enraged animal try to get out of a cage as his LSU friends tried to stop him and I continued to taunt him and toss beer at him
