Was watching the Monday Night Football post-game show, and I think Dilfer made the point about Luck always giving the Colts hope in a game no matter what the score.

And Murray had the same kind of impact for us last year. Even when were down big, I always had hope that Aaron could lead a comeback and at least give us a chance of winning the game. However, that feeling was not there last week with Mason, unfortunately. But I don't blame Mason for that, he's just not as talented. It just goes to show you how important it is to have a talented QB you can rely on to make big throws when the defense knows you have to throw (for those with defensive problems like UGA, at least). However, those are not a dime a dozen, as we all know.

tl;dr....I miss Aaron

Teams build identities and when they can't succeed in their identities, they lose. Georgia's identity is a running football team. After fumbles we fell behind and tried passing. I have no doubt that our WRs are worse off this year because they don't have a chance in practice to get the catches they need. The WRs were awful and they shouldn't be. They shouldn't be worse now as seniors than they were as freshmen and sophmores. Our defense played shitty, but I put the WRs right behind them in blame.

that is a fair and true point. We also benefited from an insane amount of TO the two previous games before UF that let us build a lead and just pound away.

Back to your point about identity though. Maybe this is why Richt and Bobo are/were so hesitant in making this team (or previous years) into a run heavy offense. Once you get down in hole, its hard to get out of, especially when your defense is average.

I almost started a thread that 'we're like tech,' in that sense. I do think that's why we've tried to be balanced in the past that's gotten so much hate. I also think especially with Arkansas, we got very lucky because they stopped trying to run it against us. If they kept that up on their second drive, it could easily have been a different game.

We knew going into the year that there were major deficiencies. We kidded ourselves that they weren't there when we were having success. But they were. We road momentum and we forgot about them too. Until they resurfaced. And at that point, the fight is already on and you have to calibrate and keep on the offensive. That just ain't going to happen too many times. It has in the past. But not on Saturday.

Mason had 30 hour gusts of wind. Few college QB's can penetrate high wind. It takes a Brady or maybe an Eason (I hope).

Edit: Remember Mason once won from 20 down in his first start and Murray never did that in four years.

I would say Ramsey has the stronger arm to "penetrate" those conditions. A change should have been made when we realized Mason wasn't doing it.

Quit making excuses for Mason. He is Joe Cox the second. But, at least Cox had an arm. Why should teams fear HM? He simply can't get it done. Period. The only reason he gets any yards is when teams loosen up and give a good bit of space. Face it, he is a backup at best.

I never thought I'd say this but Cox was 10x the QB that Mason is. Cox just made a shitload of bad decisions and turned the ball over. He could actually move the ball down the field though. I keep thinking of Mason as JT III except instead of having Cox or Stafford behind him we have Ramsey and Bauta. So a downgrade at all 3.

Mason doesn't have it. High school and college are far different, especially at this level. Oh, HM would probably do well in the likes of the Sun Belt or something equally as bad. But here in this reality, that kid would be better off tying the other players' shoes.

While true,we seem to be losing sight on the fact that we lost games when we were a more balanced team, too. In fact, are having more success as is than in the past. We have lost two games that we should not have lost. That goes back to preparation and proper mind set. We went into both games thinking we were a far superior team, and in the SEC there simply is not that huge of a gap in really good teams and mediocre teams.

We can blame the players for taking an opponent lightly, and we can pass some blame on to the coaches for allowing this mind set.

Well, when the fans are saying that we will beat the hell out of UF...the players are hearing it and don't think they didn't believe it. Read Emerson's article. Kind of hard to play with that kind of intensity when you truly believe you are going to beat the hell out of a team. Especially after our first score. And then there was the now-infamous fake FG. THAT sealed it for us...watching the players after that - every single one of them looked dejected. They were shellshocked and just gave up.
