You know what's really bad? I didn't buy the Mason "hype" (if you want to call it that in the offseason) and didn't expect a good year. Then at halftime of the Clemson game I felt very valid in that thought.
Then after the 4th quarter I got excited again and didn't reflect on every past UGA season that I can remember.
Then USCe happened and I felt dumb.
Then I slowly bought in again and then Gurley-gate happened, back downhill.
Then we had that awesome Mizzou-Arkansas stretch. I thought "hey maybe this team is different and cares and will show up for each game."
And now this.
I am convinced UGA football is a real life social experiment a la The Truman Show. We are being analyzed, like the Stanford Prison Experiment. The researchers have to be amazed at us, kind of like when the rat keeps getting electrocuted thinking "I'm getting the cheese this time!" and the guy in a lab coat just shakes his head and checks another box on the checklist on his clipboard.

This, why can't we just suck or be elite? This back and forth shite is soul crushing.

Hutson Mason is no better than Joe Cox. At least he had an arm.

I noticed that too. I think he is scared to let it go, kinda like Bobo. Hmmmmm

Hutson Mason didn't miss a FG, or fumble, or abandon the run after the 1st quarter, or give up 400 rushing yards, or get stuffed on 3rd and 1, or let 20 seconds run off the clock before calling a time out...
He's no Aaron Murray, but he did throw for 300 yards and no INTs. Something Murray was never able to do against Florida.
Blame doesn't fall on him, IMO. Not even close.

Agree. We lost because we could not stop their running game. Our offense has more first downs and more total yards than Florida. If they had had more opportunities, we likely win the game. They didn't have more opportunities because Florida dominated the time of possession with their running game which we could not stop.

Our lack of a passing game (until UF dropped back and was more than happy to let us eat up clock at the end) made it really easy for UF to load up against the run.
But yea, our D lost us this game. Special teams didn't help either. It was the epitome of a team loss.

I never thought this team was truly capable of winning the national championship. I just hoped that Hutson would be able to win the SEC and get the ring Aaron never did. I'm sure he would think it was worth the wait. I hope he can do that and I would be happy for him and consider the season a success.
