If you were a UGA fan, would you want Richt fired?

If so, who would you hire, and why?
I come here, because as most of y'all know, a lot of my fellow Dawg fans are melting hard right now and there isn't a whole lot of objectivity going on (shocking, I know) and am looking for outside opinions.

no. I think back to the Goff and Donnan years.

Mark Richt, he's the best you guys can do.

oh hell yes.
but as a non-Georgia fan...they should hold on to that guy forever. An elite coach at Georgia would be dangerous to everyone else in the SEC.

I still can't believe what happened yesterday. I just don't get how UF's O line and rb's did it.
And how UGA allowed it to happen.
And how UGA allowed it to happen.

Yes, just take Gurley for example. He's the best runningback in the country yet he's on the sideline because Richt is unwilling to be the executive of that football team and stay on top of his golden ticket's affairs. That and Gurley's conditioning is a joke. Dude is on the sideline every other play gasping for air.

It's a hard decision. The grass always looks greener on the other side, but the decision to make that jump doesn't always yield the desired results. Look at Tennessee since they fired fulmer, could you handle that possible outcome? And it's not like Richt is some sort of unlikeable guy.

Any coaching staff that just left a below .500 team run the same exact three plays for close to 400 yards rushing should be fired. I have a great friend that graduated there so I pull for them as my second team. NB4gaybuddy....I found myself screaming at the tv "they are running the sweep AGAIN GOD DAMN IT.

Ride with Richt. Upper mediocrity or lower top tier is not a bad place to be. 7/5 to 10/2 (win/loss) record can be expected. If you fire him things could get really bad.

I am a fan and I don't want him fired, being that he's a complete class act. I would, however, like him to retire or move on to something new at his on volition.

I wouldn't fire Richt but he is very smug when he wins but when he loses he always blames player execution. Some day another coach will follow Richt but the new guy will probably be a downgrade.

No but he needs to work less on being the player's buddy high-diving and all and work more on x's and o's and teaching the team how to be hungry and humble.

Being a UGA fan has to be frustrating. They are a "Sleeping Giant" of the SEC, similar to UF in the 80s. The problem is they have not found a coach to get them over the hump. Richt has taken them as far as he can, but UGA is afraid they will get burnt like TN, if they make a change.

Georgia fans caught the Mack Brown virus..

It is a really tough call and I can understand both points of view
Bottom line is it is a risk and gamble. Ritch is an above average coach but not a really good coach and certainly not close to a great one. An above average coach with all the talent UGA gets does what Ritch has done. Wins most of the time and has UGA as a fixture in the top 25 90 percent of the time, doesn't win championships.
So I dunno. You could end up with a Gus Malzahn homerun hire if you fire him, or a Derrick Dooley cluster frick like UT after Fulmer. Question is what kind of risk tolerance vs comfort level with good but not great do the decision makers at UGA have?

I'll trade ya Muschamp for Richt.

Someone once joked that he is the patron saint of passive aggressiveness. I think he had a little bit too much time with Bobby Bowden.

Richt is Mack Brown, Bobby Bowden, Phillip Fulmer without a ring

I'd go back to the Boise game a few years ago when it became apparent that Boise could do more with years of mid 70s recruiting classes then UGA could do with top five recruiting classes at that time.
I'd be torn. Getting a solid ten wins means you are in striking distance of a perfect season if you can just get that once special player (tall QB) to make the difference. So why fire him now?
I wouldn't but then again it seems like players regress year to year there and nothing seems to be done about that. The conditioning program from insiders I know is horrid. He seems tired and over it, he has been there a long long time relative to a normal tenure which even with the best of coaches only lasts 5-7 years.
I still probably wouldn't fire him but one thing that would bother me is that the last few years have been gift wrapped with UF collapsing, UT disappearing and Auburn on a roller coaster ride but mostly down with two coaches fired. And CMR has nothing to show for that time. What if all three surge back up and stay up and what if USCe gets a new coach and stays up? Would CMR become a better coach if the competition got better?

If we fire him... we go back to the Goff/ Donnan days.
Richt is a great and likable man. As a Georgia fan for two decades. I say we keep him and let the man retire on his own accord.

Would UGA ever hire Kiffin if CMR left or was fired?
