"That thought process has hit me the last 10 years when you have a game like this," Spurrier said. "We have some good players here. We think we believe we have help on the way. We think we have some good defensive players and good offensive players, too. But we will see how all of that plays out."

"I like to beat teams when it looks like you are supposed to beat them these are not losses I am used to having (during my career)," Spurrier said. "These things haven't happened in the past. I guess you coach long enough odds are things are going to happen. I am not the only coach that loses a heartbreaking game.

He's 69 years old now. He is probably finding it hard physically and mentally to put in the long days that it takes to excel in this league.
3 more are getting close. I don't know what you think, but Saban is starting to look a little tired and Miles is starting to get that far-away look.

Bye bye Spurrier. It will be a less fun conference without you.

Saban is lucky that his recruiting is bringing kids to his office, cocktail parties and occasional facetine to say "I want to offer you a scholarship"
Adds to his longevity

Yeah, had no idea Miles was that old.

Interesting. Hope he stays a couple more.

I hope Spurrier never retires -- the SEC needs him.

I would've never guessed that Fat Bert was that young.

In spite of the Florida arse-beatings, I have always enjoyed Spurrier coaching in the SEC.

Spurrier also considered retiring after the Outback Bowl in 2008. That season finished with 3 straight beat downs from UF, Clemson, and Iowa. All 3 of those games are team barely showed up on the field. Luckily, he stayed and we had a great run from 2010-2013.
With that said, we have a great recruiting class coming in so I think he'll evaluate the tools he'd have next season and make a decision about whether or not staying will be worth it or not.

You're right. He'll be 61 this week.

Spurrier just needs to focus all of his energy on his golf game

I think he will bow out at the end of this season. He doesn't look like he has the fire anymore.

I'm thinking there may be some secret to that grass that Miles isn't telling us about.
