The committee took its two week vacation and is now back with the preeminent SEC RB rankings by production list.

As always this list chronicles the top SEC running backs by production on the field to date for the current season. Objective statistics are the primary criteria utilized in formulating this list, however, the statistics are set into context based on the quality of opponent upon which the statistics were accumulated. In some instances where the choice is close, a subjective eye test is also taken into account. However, hype, injuries, suspensions, etc. are not. This isn't a list of most talented or a prediction of NFL draft status. It is just an unbiased look at which 5 SEC RB's are getting the job done the best on the field. As such, this list will likely drastically change each week, especially early in the season.

Note: This list only looks at performance at the RB position. Thus, kick and punt return yardage aren't part of the evaluation. However, receiving out of the RB position is accounted for.

1. Josh Robinson - With Gurley having missed 3 games, this is an easy call at number 1.

2. Cameron Artis-Payne - Strange to see him this high as the sense from many is that he is under performing, but the numbers don't lie and none of the backs below him have better over all production numbers against good competition.

3. Mike Davis - Davis and Cooper are bright spots in an otherwise very dark season for USC.

4. Todd Gurley - Amazing that after missing 3 games, he still has stats that support his ranking on this list.

5. Nick Chubb - Has been extremely impressive since taking over for Gurley. Losing Gurley isn't why UGA lost.

Worth a mention: Johnathan Williams, Leornard Fournette, TJ Yeldon, Alex Collins

Against Arkansas, LSU, MSU, USC and Ole Miss he is averaging 146.4 yards per game from scrimmage at a rate of 6 yards per touch.

Spot on list.

CAP is the only RB in the SEC to have 6 games with 100+ yards.

I was actually thinking something similar once they started talking about CAPs stats during the game.

I think my exact words were "wtf, I didn't even think he was having that great of a season"

He just isn't talked about as much as tre but the dude has been straight beastmode and he's only gotten better, he just hasn't scored the TDs like tre.

He isn't explosive like Tre Mason was and so people over reacted thinking he wasn't good. He has been extremely good this year.

He isn't flashy, he isn't overly fast, he isn't the biggest, but he is extremely reliable and consistent every week. Those are traits Gus Malzahn loves about players.

He gets tackled just shy of the goal line on his big runs and then we let Marshall sneak it in for the TD.

WDE, not trying to say he should be on here, but what do you think of Brandon Wilds?

He doesn't get the touches to make the list, but he is a perfect compliment to Davis and makes the most of his opportunities. Reminds me a little bit of Corey Grant as the compliment to CAP.
