Is it who is best at the end, or the body of work?

Normally... in every other sport, they are measuring via a playoff system, which team is strongest at the end of the year... not the beginning, obviously. But D1 football, has to choose 4 teams... If they are choosing the four best teams, wouldn't that mean they want the four best teams at the end of the year? If so, and a blind man can see where this one is going, after LSU wins out, shouldn't they be in Final Four... Especially if Miss State and Auburn win out? LSU is a much different team than they were earlier in year...

Stop associating yourselves with the playoff. It's not happening

Nice try. Losing to Miss St AND Auburn the way you did makes LSU not worthy. And it was just 2 games that LSU's defense actually played well. I don't think that justifies a playoff spot,

This is a legit question, though. Is it who is most deserving, who has the best across the whole season, or who is playing the best at the end of the year when the decision is made?

Considering OM was 4th last week after a loss, I'd say body of work

Precedent...
1971...
Final rankings... 1. Nebraska 2. Oklahoma... 3. Colorado. Colo only lost to Neb and OK... OK only lost to Nebraska... This is based on LSU winning out... And frankly Arkansas scares me more than Bama right now.

Not if two of the Final Four beat your brains in and there are other conference teams with l or 0 losses.

The body of work clearly bc OM was still in the top 4 after losing to LSU.

I have been hearing "body of work" and "resume" a lot this season. Looks like the eye test is dead.

The answer to both questions is mississippi state.

Then you're saying it's the body of work... If we're going for a playoff system, shouldn't it be about the 4 teams who are strongest at the end...

If the SEC Champ has two losses, it is highly doubtful we get anyone at all in.

I'm not at all sure that I trust this committee more than the old BCS method of rankings. It seems even more subjective. The individual members can weight the criteria any way they choose. I'm just not sold on them yet. It will be interesting to compare their final 4 against what the BCS model would have yielded. That model was as objective as you can get, and the SEC benefited from that.

You're gonna need to get a little higher than #17 to even worry about it.

To answer this question, I'd like to know your thoughts on bama getting a rematch in '11.

EXACTLY MY POINT... If this COMMITTEE BS is about finding the best four teams and not just another layer of BCS BS, where the old formulas are still in tact, just filtered through a GD committee, then what's the point??? Pick the best four who are trending to be the best four...

If the College Football Playoff was a 1-time thing, instead of 12 years, I guess that comment would make sense.

While my underlying motive is banging LSU into the final four, the principle of how the best four is picked is what's most concerning. If they're going to just look at the polls and then have a discussion, why not just keep the BCS formulas and take the top four????
