The ONLY way I see the SEC Conf champ NOT getting into the playoff is if they have two losses. And even then, I still think it's 50/50.

I wanted UGA to play Ole Miss b/c I felt like they would have the best chance against them if we make it to the SECCG.

I'd still rank it
1. Ole Miss
2. Miss St
3. Bama

Auburn isn't even a factor. They'll get eliminated.

I care. The commitee puts a lot of emphasis on SOS. We need Auburn and Georgia Tech to win out.

They value quality wins. It may not matter but just in case it does, it's better to have that under your belt.

And as has been stated before, I want 8-1 Auburn coming in to Athens to face 8-1 Georgia. Would be the biggest game in Athens this late in the season is quite some time. Would be an absolutely electric atmosphere.

Apparently the playoff committee is looking at quality of wins/losses as well as SOS and other things. I'd rather UGA beat a 1-loss Barn team to improve our odds of making the playoff.

IMO, the only way we make it is if we win the SEC, so what anyone else does really does't matter.

Could be, but it never hurts to beat teams with good records.

Plus, I'd rather UGA not get screwed out of a playoff spot if we are on the bubble but only have one quality win in the SECCG. Winning the SECCG should be enough, but UGA has a history of getting screwed.

That may be the way we think, but this committee is going beyond common sense. As I said, if we face a team with 2 or 3 losses in the SECCG then, according to the committee, our quality of wins would go down - and if FSU goes undefeated and oregon, ND, and whoever else has one loss then you can bet the SEC would be left out.

SEC Champ is automatic.

If we win out and lose close in the SECCG, we have a slim chance, depending on Teams ahead of us and how the west os played out.

Either way......Just win!

That is nearly impossible, and if so, Ole Miss losing last week and staying in the top 4 has set a precedent for this committee. They determine their own SOS and right now winning the SEC seems to be our best shot. Losing 2 and making it will take a lot of luck!

Are you so sure? The committee has already shown our quality of wins to be poor by ranking us where they did. If we beat a team that already has 2 or 3 losses in the SECCG, then will they continue that mindset or just say well, they won so they are automatically in?

Of course I can't be 100%, but can you imagine a SEC Champ not in the top 4. Strongest Conference and the Champ not in??? That's like voting a community organizer as President........oh wait.....I think I see your point

Given the strength of the SECW this year and the fact that there likely will only be one undefeated team left at the end, I hope that any 1 or 2 loss SEC champ is in except for Mizzou. Whether or not the committee agrees nobody knows. They couldn't even give you a straight answer now.

The conference champion is just another factor they are looking at, but I don't think it's automatic. Hell, GT only lost by 6 points in the ACCCG two years ago and they had a 6-6 record.

Conference champs aren't necessarily enough, IMO.

ETA: I know the ACC is not the SEC, but I was using that as an example of how the conference champion isn't necessarily one of the top 4 teams in the country.

I see our wins as up to par with any non-SEC team in front of us.

Honestly, we all know College Football is about money. This is no different. Is Alabama really the #6 team in the nation......hell no. They have looked great these past few weeks. Point is, this will be more of a scam than the BCS ever was and it is sad to say, but if some variables result in certain ways.......the pundits will have more of a field day with this committee of fools than they would have already if there were only 1 or 2 teams getting screwed.

Anyway, it will be fun to watch play out. We control our destiny and if we don't win out, I personally don't see us in the top 4 unless a lot if things happen.....not saying they won't though

I agree. I can see something working out so badly that the idea of the playoff would be abandoned. Hell, we forget that this is NCAA football - nothing makes sense about this group.

I can also see the committee having a bias. Former players/coaches? A little side money? The fact that Condoleeza is on it is all that needs to be said...

Exactly. It is run by idiots with agendas. Won't be long until the power 5 has lobbyist and we are seeing these things ran as a campaign. I know that sounds far fetched, but this is more about money/ratings, than getting it right.

If they wanted to get it right, or better I should say, it would have been done years ago and we would drop a cupcake and play a playoff comparable to what ever other sports organization does......because it's common sense, but that (common sense) is down lower than the housing market in '08, so God Bless us all

Either way, let's win and enjoy as many others getting screwed as possible. I'm sure these conversations will be a weekly thing, which is what the Playoff Czars want....money and ratings.
This is not for the athletes or fans. This is all school presidents, Conferences, TV deals and their lust for money.

Yessir. That is a real possibility. I have always thought that the best playoffs would be every conference winner plus the highest ranking independents that would give us an even number. Until something like that happens, it isn't really going to be any different than the bcs...
