I'm about to head to the hospital to have a bronchoscopy performed so that some places they found in my lungs can be biopsied.

And no, it isn't ebola.

Unfortunately for y'all, I will be back this afternoon and posting while recovering from general anesthesia...that could get interesting.

Prayers to you and your family. Poor health is always tough on anyone's family.

Is this what they use to perform the bronchoscopy?

Seems sorts Flinstone to me but now we know what you look like

Oh well, hope all is well in the end and you get an early start on the weekend

Wilma is a ginger, after all. Now I have Yaba Dabo Swinney in my head. Gotta remove him from my thoughts before they send me off to sleepy land..don't want any orange and purple nightmares!

They just got me back for preop and then I'm up, they said. Hope they don't get confused and do a colonoscopy instead of a bronchoscopy. That would be awkward.

Thanks for the T&P's, y'all!!!!

I had the same thing earlier this year for a bunch of lung masses.

Diagnosis: Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia

Therapy: Antibiotics followed by months of steroid treatment (I started on 40mg Prednisone in March; they've got me down to 5 mg daily at this point)

Prognosis: I believe all the Prednisone killed the crap in my lungs; I took another chest x-ray yesterday and go to my pulmonologist on Nov. 5 to discuss. He's been quite satisfied with my progress to date.

Overall: There are worse things than COP, although the Prednisone has surely shot holes in my immune system. Anyway, it beats having lung cancer.

I went into such detail here, because it sounds like you might have something similar. If so, just know this: it sucks, but it's hardly the end of the world.

Best of luck.

The doc did blood work 8 weeks ago testing for both crypto and histo but both were negative. He had me take a month's course of antibiotics in case it was crypto as well as a month's course of an antifungal in case it was histo. Like I mentioned, both were negative and the CT showed interval growth even after completing the meds.

I have Lupus, though, and there is a possibility that the nodules have developed and continued to grow under Lupus' influence. Biopsies were done and we'll have a better idea of what we're dealing with in ~3 weeks.

Haa..it has taken me forever to compose this post so that words are spelled correctly and so that it makes sense. That multiple drug combo they hit me with still has me reeling...in a very nice way.

Thanks to everybody that took the time to send me well wishes! I really do appreciate it!!

That's no walk in the park. You sound like a person who doesn't fold under adversity though, so my money's on you to get through this. Meanwhile, enjoy the pro-po-fol*, versed or whatever they gave you today.

*fricking spell check, misspells the drug. Anyway, it's the shite they gave Michael Jackson.

Lupus is an insidious and elusive killer. I was diagnosed in my 20's after having multiple miscarriages. I was otherwise asymptomatic until I hit my 30's. At that point it began its systematic and unrelenting attack of my organs. Most nights that I work, I am sicker than 70% of the patients I care for.

And you hit the nail on the head with your insight of my personality. If I had to describe myself using only 2 adjectives, it would definitely be "resilient" and "determined". I refuse to allow anyone or anything the privilege of altering the goals
and aspirations that I have.

So to whatever may be causing these issues with my lungs, you. You will not get the best of me.
