Well, I guess I can talk now. No more fear of jinxing the run.

What a season for the Royals. In my entire lifetime, not one of my favorite sports teams has won a championship. Not Mizzou football. Not Mizzou basketball. Not the Chiefs. Not the Royals. I've never witnessed winning it all, and it's caused me to be a very pessimistic fan when it comes to sports.

That being said, for the first time in my entire life, I truly had faith in my team. I truly believed we were going to win it all. Yeah 2007 and 2013 Mizzou football were good. Yeah 2008-09 and 2011-12 Mizzou basketball were good. Yeah the Chiefs....no not the Chiefs. And not the Royals either. I've never believed in a team. Until the 2014 Royals.

The 2014 Royals made me believe in one of my teams. I mean truly believe they would win it all. That's never happened for me, nor will it probably ever happen again. Despite my lifetime of doubting my teams, I believed for once, and they still let me down....just like always. But I'm not bitter.

This is a season I'll always remember. I will always love every player from this team, and be thankful for what they brought to me and our city. I'll never forget the excitement and drama that I witnessed in the last few months. It is excruciatingly painful that it had to end how it did. But I can't let it bum me out too much. These guys came closer to winning the big one than any team I've ever rooted for before.

I hope that someday, I can witness my favorite team win a championship. I don't care who it is. Mizzou basketball, Mizzou football, the Chiefs, or the Royals. Ever since I was a young kid, I've only DREAMED of my favorite team being the last one standing. To this day, 84 combined seasons between the 4 of them, I still haven't seen that dream come true. But I can't give up hope...not even if I wanted to. I hope that one of these days, I'll see if only just once, my guys holding up the trophy.

Be grateful Cardinals fans. Even Rams fans. Both of your teams have won it all in my life. That's fantastic, and I can't even imagine what it feels like. Maybe we can watch Mizzou win one together. Who knows. All I know is that I hope to witness the joy and success that you all have. Like I said...maybe one day.

TL:DR I'm happy and sad at the same time and am wondering if I'll ever see one of my favorite sports teams win a championship

Not TL and I Did R. Solid man. I hope your ownership reads this post. If they do and they feel what you're putting out there, they will keep putting a winning product out there because you'll be behind them like never before.

As for your team this year, lots to be proud of. We don't get a lot of Royals games here in STL, but I can tell you I actually enjoyed watching your guys play and how they played the game more than I did the Cards. Y'all have a bright future ahead of you. No major overhauls needed. Just a tweak here and a tweak there.

Congrats again for a great run man.

Need bats, and somehow keep the young arms, maybe we sign Sandavol beings Butler is probably gone, Sandavol could be a DH/utility player, Shields is gone so hopefully we have a young pitcher who wants the job.

You have my sincere sympathies and very well said, friend.

I remember everything about the 82 Cardinals (my first) and treasure it. If I sat down with a pen and paper I could probably name every player on the team. Herzog is (and will always remain) a god in my eyes. A baseball genius. The current franchise is built on the foundation he laid.

For what it's worth, I like the trajectory Kansas City, as a city, is on. Great concerts, great sporting events. Love it. And if we had simply copied your stadium set-up from years ago, we wouldn't be in this pickle we're in with pro football.

Treasure the ride and the memories.

An American League Pennant is still good considering I hate NL Baseball.

Everyone here understands what you're saying.

After all, we all root for Mizzou.

Even as a Cards fan my heart has been broken many more times than I've seen the dream fulfilled. Watching your team flutter away into the night, after putting every ounce of energy and hope into them is stressful and disheartening, but there will be a day later this winter when you sit back and get a big smile on your face when thinking about that October run.

If you're like me, you won't watch ESPN for a week, won't turn on sports radio, you'll do whatever you can to avoid hearing about the WS Champs. Later on though, when the dust settles, and the pain in your heart subsides, you'll realize that this is what it's all about. The journey is what makes being a fan the most rewarding thing about watching sports. You'll be back, year after year, regardless of the outcome.

Yep, we'll all be back next year. Here's to both the Royals and Cardinals giving us all something to cheer for in 2014.

It's gonna happen bro. Heads up. They are keeping a lot more than they are losing this off season. Nothing is written in stone. So hang in there. Enjoy this season. They made it to where no one thought they would. They took a damn good team to the 7th game of the WS and they only won by one run and it was as usual, an almost dramatic finish.

I was 17 yrs. old when the Royals won the '85 series. Believe me, there is nothing like it. But you will witness it. It's coming. The formula is there, the players are there and the coaching is mostly there.
