Mike shannahan and Steve spurrier interviewed for the head coach position at LSU in 1986 and were passed over for Mike Archer.

:edit: and Spurrier paid them back by going 11-1 against them including some of the worst beat downs in LSU history.

SCar hasn't beaten Auburn since 1933.

The 0-21 stretch SCar endured featured some of the most fun I ever had post graduation at home games. It was strange. I suppose ppl partied their asses off to take their minds off of what was actually going on down on the football field.

Our first bowl win came under fat Bradstard (Brad Scott) who started the 0-21 slump before being let go and replaced by Lou Holtz, who finished the 0-21 slump. Scott immediately went to work for our most hated archrival, the Clemtards of Pickens County.

We were positioned to move from #2 to #1 in 1984....until we inexplicably herp derped the hell out of a game against Navy and blew our chance at the Nat'l title that year.

We fired him (or maybe he just left) first as our OC. We were all ready for him to go though.

I don't think he was fired, but he felt pressure to leave.

Of teams that have been to more than 10 bowl games, Ole Miss has the highest winning percentage in the nation.

Ole Miss actually tried to allow James Meredith into the school with open arms, but Kennedy wouldn't allow it. He coordinated with (and bribed) Ross Barnett and had the riots staged to allow Kennedy to get the press he needed to have the Civil Rights act passed.

Curley Hallman, through four seasons at LSU, never posted a winning season and never coached in a bowl game. He is the only LSU head coach since the formation of the SEC in 1932 to accomplish either of these feats.

- Southern Miss was known as a giant killer
- LSU needed a new coach
- Curley Hallman was the Southern Miss head coach
- Turns out that the Southern Miss good fortune was tied to a future NFL player named Brett Favre
- Brett Favre is responsible for the dumpster fire of 90's LSU football

I thought Jackie fired both of his coordinators after the 1995 season to keep his job. He brought in Joe Lee Dunn and Lynn Amadee. Hard to imagine Amadee was an upgrade to Bruce Arians, but things did start to turn around in 1996....

Gene Chizik won a National Championship at Auburn.

If you add that Ted Roof was the DC then I think you win the contest.

LSU hasn't returned a kickoff for a TD at home in over 30 years (1981).

During the academic year of '96-'97 our baseball team came within a run of outscoring our basketball team against Clemson (39 pts, 38 runs).
