Definitely some young mistakes. Turnovers. Lazy, telegraphed passes, but not bad overall.

I really think we're going to like the defense this year. It's just William Jewell, but regardless of the opponent, active feet is active feet. Pressure all the way down the court doesn't depend on who you play. Pressure out high is pressure regardless of opponent.

1st Half thoughts:

Clark: Seems more comfortable. Better shooting than I remember last year but still not a sharpshooter and still some questionable/telegraphed passes.

Shamburger: Think he'll be our best floor leader on the court. Knows when to push it and seems to be calming when it's not there.

Teki: Really liked what I've seen so far. Have seen him do it all so far.

Isabell: Haven't seen much offensively from him but brought it defensively.

Allen: Wasn't expecting much from him but he's been active so far and I've been pleasantly surprised.

Gant: Seems to be the real deal. The game seems a bit fast for him at times, but not so out of reach that you don't think he won't get it after a couple of games. Jones last year for example you could tell just couldn't catch up.

Post: Showed quick feet on one trip but then seemed lost on other occasions when touching the ball down low.

Rosburg: Guy just can't finish. If he could finish, he'd have a dozen by now. Extremely active on the boards though.

Bello: Pretty much what one would expect. Can't shoot. Strength is slashing to the rim and crashing the boards. His defense hasn't stood out any more than anyone else though.

Wright: Haven't seen him in a whole lot. Clanked one ill advised 3. Beyond that, don't remember his name called on the boards or defensively. Could just be me though.

2nd half started a little sloppy. Some freshmen mistakes, but have settled in. The defense has really led to the offense as they are extending their lead a bit now.

Keep reminding myself it's just William Jewell, but man these guys are active on the board. Rosburg. Allen. Teki. Bello. You name it. Think I've seen more guys diving for loose balls already in this game than I did all of last year.

If Post just catches it and goes up in rhythm with his little jump hook, he is smooth. If he catches it with back to basket, he's lost.

Clark with a couple dunks this half coming off of defense.

Holy crap. Solid defense knocks ball loose. Literally had 4 bodies on the floor diving for the ball at different times before Wright came up with it on the floor for the turnover.

A play that I think will summarize play a lot this year. Active feet and hands defensively, applies pressure, leads to a turnover into Gant's hands who promptly dribbles out and off his knee to turn it over. There's more good than bad in this game, but those young mistakes have been common. Some passes to air. Some lazy passes that are telegraphed because they're used to high school speed. Overall though, good stuff.

Isabel with the beautiful assist on that Barnard bucket. Isabel also now in double digits.

The defense absolutely has not stopped in these last couple of minutes in the game.

Wright broke a few ankles and finished at the rim.

Definitely some things to work on but overall they did what they were supposed to do.

To compare it to football, I expected us to control the game against SDSU even with some things that need work. Football never dominated a team they should have.

The basketball team, while showing those things that need work, dominated a team they were supposed to dominate.

We definitely need a 4* big in this class. Rosburg tries hard, but God love him, he's just not very athletic. Can't jump a lick and has trouble finishing around the rim. Post is decent but still not great. We will look better when J3 gets back.

Yeah, I don't think what Rosburg did tonight will transfer to games against better talent. He just can't finish. He plays hard. He's active on the boards. But he just isn't athletic and just not strong enough.

Post showed he has one move. Catch and right up with a quick jump hook. If he holds the ball for more than .5 seconds, he's screwed.
