Of course this does NOT mean how many games would the 2014 Bama team win. It means how many NFL games would a team comprised of current Bama players in the NFL win?

QB: AJ McCarron
RB: Eddie Lacy/Mark Ingram/Trent Richardson (could switch first two)
FB: Le'Ron McClain
WR: Julio Jones
WR: Kevin Norwood
TE: Brad Smelley/Michael Williams
LT: Andre Smith
LG: Evan Mathis
C: Chance Warmack
RG: James Carpenter
RT: DJ Fluker

DE: Wallace Gilberry
DT: Marcell Dareus
DT: Brandon Deaderick or Ed Stinson
DE: Courtney Upshaw
SLB: Dont'a Hightower
MLB: Rolando McClain
WLB: CJ Mosley
CB: Dee Milliner
CB: Kareem Jackson
SS: Mark Barron
FS: Rashad Johnson OR HaHa Clinton-Dix

Few things:

- We don't know how McCarron would do in the NFL since he hasn't played yet, but he is our only option

- Not even sure Smelley is still on a roster, and Big Mike got moved to Tackle so he is around 300lbs

- Norwood has only played a few snaps so far. Caught 3 balls, but nothing special. Besides Julio and Norwood, we have no options at WR until next year.

- That OL may not be the best in pass pro, but damn they can open up some holes in the running game

- Speaking of the OL, I put Warmack at Center because I felt like he was in our best five, and he fit better at Center than Carpenter does.

Final thoughts:

We'd be able to run the ball. Lacy is the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, Ingram currently leads the NFL in yards per carry by a RB. That OL has arguably the best Guard (Mathis) and two of the best RTs (Fluker and Smith, though Smith is forced to play LT here). Carpenter has come on this year and is another guy who blows open holes. Not sure how Warmack has done this year. Plus Julio is probably the best blocking WR in the NFL, and BMW at TE is basically an extra OL. So we'd be able to run the ball. The problem is our only threats in the passing game would be Julio and our backs. Opposing defenses would double cover Julio and you can't win by throwing to your tailbacks. Norwood may be able to make some plays, but right now we don't know.

On defense I went with the 43 because it seemed to fit the personnel better. Ro/CJ/Dont'a are three of the best ILBs in the league this year, and here I've put them all on a 43 team. Ro in the middle, Mosley at Will, and Dont'a at Sam. The secondary is meh. If we got end of his rookie year Dee, then we have a legit #1 corner. Kareem is serviceable as a #2 corner. Barron is a good SS if used correctly, but his coverage leaves a lot to be desired. Johnson is a solid Safety, and HaHa is having an ok rookie year in his role.

I think we'd definitely be able to run the ball and stop the run, but passing the football and stopping the pass may be tough. We have some guys who can rush (Dareus, Gilberry, Hightower, Mosley) but no one other than Dareus is elite at getting after the QB.

Record: I'm gonna say 3-13. Next year it may shoot up though, with Coop to pair with Julio and LC to add to the secondary.

1 at the most. Maybe they'd play Oakland the first game of the season when they didn't need any depth. Otherwise, 0.

Jarret Johnson and Demeco Ryans need to be on that defense

That would be a middle of the pack to upper level NFL starting defense right now. Same goes for the offensive line and the running backs.

That D + that OL + those RBs should be able to win more than 1 game. A bunch of ugly, close wins, but wins either way.

I agree, I just didn't know where to slot them. Obviously they'd play, but I don't know if they'd start. I don't think either is playing better than the three LBs I listed right now, and I don't think Johnson is currently a better option at End in a 43 than Upshaw or Gilberry would be right now.

I have no idea how to quantify that in my head... but I'd say the one thing the paper won't account for is how many of these guys played together, and therefore have solid chemistry and communication.

Oh, and we'd better have a hell of a running game!

Biggest problem is the QB and secondary. In today's NFL, that team right there isn't winning many regular season games...if any at all. Add Coop and Collins next year and the only thing keeping that team from being a serviceable NFL team would be a good QB.
