Is anybody else satisfied with this outcome?

TG made bad choices, but he's learning a lesson despite some who claim otherwise. That's how young people mature, at least the ones who are capable of doing so. UGA handled it right according to the NCAA, and I'm sure UGA will do the same in the future. The NCAA handed down an appropriate punishment, and even though they've not always done that, I can't fault them in this particular case.

I'm not happy that this happened, but I can't find much to complain about with the outcome. I wish it worked this way more often, but that's another subject.

Absolutely not, but then again, I'm a "nega Dawg" and I'm never satisfied.

What did I learn here? I can rape, steal, and sign more shite than gurley did, but if I lie about it, I come out smelling like a rose. This lying shite is amazing!

As long as we keep winning, while doing it with dignity...

Not everybody can say that.

appropriate punishment

Not that this part affects UGA but the community service part of it is beyond laughable.

That being said, gurley knew the rules (however stupid they may be to an extent) and chose to break them so the consequences rest on him. That's the biggest real world lesson he can learn. We don't agree with every rule or law but that doesn't mean we aren't held accountable when we break them.

Fair or not, in my eyes I'm definitely disappointed in him. And yea I'm aware he wouldn't give a shite what I think he's gonna get paid the big money soon enough and he deserves it.

This case was served up to the NCAA on a silver platter, not by UGA but by Bryan Allen. There was no way for them to ignore the facts that became evident. Some may not like the way that worked, but it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Gurley would get more than two games.

It's more than just Allen though. Assuming his lawyers statement about $400 is true. I'd be interested to know what else was discovered this past week/weekend by the NCAA. And I have to imagine UGA didn't know that information was out there or they would've submitted everything at once. I'm assuming the NCAA found actual evidence of the other payments.

How do you know UGA didn't submit everything at once? Message board rumor? I think we've had enough of that. The NCAA commended UGA's handling, which suggests that they got full compliance in a timely manner.

Definitely not satisfied. I wanted Gurley back.

Very disappointed in the new revelations brought forth into the light about Gurley today.

Because I can read

quote:

Georgia submitted its reinstatement request a week ago. The NCAA said it requested more information on Friday, which it received Saturday and Sunday, and the decision was issued to UGA on Tuesday afternoon.

I can read too, but that doesn't mean that UGA's new information changed the outcome. I'm sure we submitted reams of documents and there's no reason to believe that we withheld anything meaningful. That the NCAA asked for something else is not surprising, but I would be surprised if we withheld information that impacted the final ruling. I would also be surprised if we had done that and the NCAA saw fit to call our compliance in this matter exemplary.

How so? His word and an email claiming what he did? Laughable by any standard...NCAA proves nothing w/out Gurley fessing up.

What if this is a conspiracy to try to keep us out of the playoffs?

Oh I agree in that I don't think UGA held out anything on purpose to try and get off easier. I'm just wondering if there was more than UGA knew because otherwise requesting reinstatement after 2 weeks doesn't make sense. No way NCAA will let someone admit to taking $3k+ over multiple years and only give them 2 weeks.

Well, yes. He was a witness who claimed that he paid Gurley. Once that happened, the whole thing was going to end up in an NCAA investigation and we have no idea exactly what evidence was obtained beyond an email. I assume we looked at everything, just as the NCAA did, and it became apparent that Gurley got paid.

I'm not saying there was another way it could've been handled hy UGA in this particular situatjon, but I don't really care about any praise the NCAA gives us. They can choke on a fat one for all I care.

I'd be fine with UGA giving the NCAA the finger and taking the aTm route in stuff like this. I say that because I trust Richt to handle the stuff that I actually have a problem with (sexual assault, stealing, etc) because he has already shown that he will.

Satisfied May be the wrong word but no surprised in the least. It could be the best thing for us....we may continue the us against the world stuff that we showed against Arky and Mizzoo and about the time that wears off we get the benefit of having Gurley back to end the season.

My question is will he be in game condition??? He already seemed a little, out of shape. The idea of not playing for 5 weeks may mean he is fresher but it may also mean he is not at the height of his game.

At this point I don't expect Gurley to be much of factor for the dawgs again. If he is great, if not so be it...
