That's what they're talking about on SVP show right now.

Basically, the poll is listing teams in order of losses right now. State and FSU are undefeated, then there's 14 or 15 one-loss teams, then the two-loss teams.

Brad Edwards just said the loser of the game Saturday could plummet down the rankings. Maybe not to the back of the line behind every one-loss team, but behind a lot of them.

Is that the vibe for most Auburn and Ole Miss fans right now?

It is. I was telling the Auburn fan at work the same thing before the rankings even came out. Two losses and you're done.

That is my feeling. We lose all we can hope for is to finish strong and get a decent bowl. Maybe even a major if we beat Bama and Uga

I definitely think so. I don't see a 2 loss SEC team getting in the way the schedules set up.

One of the defenses for the BCS was always "Every week is a playoff!" but this game, possibly the Iron Bowl, and possibly the SECCG are shaping up to be the same way.

I would argue that Ole Miss is still in the discussion if they lose.

Auburn is going to be the underdog against UGA and Alabama, and there is a decent chance they will lose both of those games.

If Ole Miss finds a way to get in a 3-way tie with Alabama and Mississippi State, they would win the West (this is assuming Ole Miss wins the Egg Bowl).

But yes, it is very likely that the loser of this game will not make the playoff. Because, most likely, the loser of this game won't win the West.

Seems pretty obvious. However, there is still a slim possibility of winning a two-loss tiebreaker for the West I guess and then winning the SECCG. A two loss SEC champion (epecially from the West) would have a fair shot at getting in I think.

That's even more so the case this year.

In the past, once you lose your second game, you are pretty much out of it. That makes your last three or four games not really seem like they count for as much. Those last games don't have a playoff feel.

Now, every game is important until you lose for a third time. And for the good teams, you should get pretty far into the season without losing a third game. And once you do, it's likely all you have left is your rivalry game (which you'd care about a lot anyway).

So, I'd argue a 4-team playoff makes the regular season matter even more.

Maybe on schedule. They'll fall farther than AU and AU has more of an opportunity to prove their worth.

But, I think this is 100% an elimination game.

If either team loses they will not be a part of the discussion again unless the rest above have two losses.

Auburn will have this game x3.5 over the next 5 weeks. Obviously I want to win, but the stress would only rise from there.

The drops on eliminator games are never going to feel quite so severe because more than one 1-loss team are going to be losing each week.

Oregon, TCU, K-State, and Arizona are in losable games, and Arizona State and Utah play each other.

going from 3 or 4 to 10 is pretty standard

True.

If Auburn loses this game, they'll have a hard time winning the West, simply because they lost to both Mississippi schools.

But wins at Georgia and Alabama to close the season would be about as impressive as it gets.

I think that's fair. They aren't going to take a two loss SEC team over a one loss team from another conference. No matter how "good" the losses are.

What if Bama drops another 1 or 2 games? The committee gave OM props for beating Bama. Would their stock drop if Bamas stock drops?
