We don't know for sure, of course but, we do know that TG has said multiple times that everything he does is for his mom and family.

Every self-righteous fricknut in here crucifying this kid would choose mamma over a fricking football team

How much do tattoos, hairdos, and flat-bills cost?

Surely some of the money Gurley used to purchase these frivilous self-indulgent items could have been used to help pay mom's power and gas bills instead, right?

"Sorry mom, can't help with the power bill. I need the money to get another bumper sticker permanently printed onto my arm! Woopity diddly doo!"

People in the spotlight (rightly or wrongly) tend to be held to a higher standard, and I hoped that Gurley would continue to excel at UGA without having off-the-field problems like many others have had.

How quickly we forget Todd playing on a bad ankle last year when we had nothing big to play for or win. I guess that doesn't count to show how much he cares about the team

Not really. Those autographs aren't worth shite with him sitting on the bench.

I just feel like the "at least he didn't rape someone" argument is not even really an argument. It's a deflection and entirely beside the point. I know we've made jokes that if you rape you get a heisman, but if you exchange goods for money you ride the bench. But the reality is Winston's situation has nothing to do with Gurley's whatsoever.

I'm disappointed in the choices Gurley made, and I don't think that's an unreasonable way to feel about it. That being said, I don't wish anything bad on him, and I hope he has success in the future and has learned something from all of this.

It's not unreasonable.

This is a tragic day in UGA football history. And it's completely natural and healthy to mourn such a wasted opportunity.

The apologists who're more upset at those criticizing Gurley than they are with Gurley himself are just shell-shocked or something.

That's not unreasonable at all.

I can agree with this entire post. I hope he goes on to make millions and his mama and imprisoned brother never have to suffer again.

I just don't feel that he can be a part of this team anymore after screwing over his teammates. What if all wins that he participated in had to be vacated because he was ineligible? Would everyone still want him back after a 4 game suspension?

Let's just say he screwed up. He is paying the price. Hopefully he has learnd his lesson and the team will not pay a steep price for his mistake.

That said, AJ Green did essentially the same thing and was suspended for the same length of time, and I don't remember all this fuss being made about that.

Let's move on. Not bad to vent a little. But essentially we have two more football games to play without him. Let's vent...then move on.

I disagree, but any decision like that should be made by his teammates, not fans.

This isn't on the table since UGA was proactive about suspending him.

That's because everyone knew UGA sucked in 2010 and that even with AJ Green we weren't going to win anything important.

That being said, if we can't win these next 2 games without Gurley, we aren't good enough to achieve this seasons goals anyways.
It sucks not having Gurley but I am loving watching Chubb run the ball and seeing Mason take more ownership of this team.

Agreed, but this is a fan forum so I stated an opinion.

But it could have happened due to his bad decision.

It would have taken another decision (a cover-up) by UGA to bring that into play. Vacating wins is really only in play if the institution is complicit.

But you get my point? His decision to break this rule for an extended period of time could have cost the team and the school big time. I'm glad it didn't.

Like I've said many times, it was a risk he took based on the low likelihood of getting caught. It didn't work out well.

By taking the low-reward, low-risk strategy of cooperating with the NCAA, UGA took institutional penalties out of play, regardless of Gurley's actions. If they had kept playing him and admitted nothing, it probably would have gone nowhere, but there would have been a small risk of a much bigger problem if the NCAA were to find proof that they knew.

What?

Like us, I'm sure they're mostly pissed he got caught. Had he not (bee caught) we'd be none the wiser and instead be making threads about Gurley's Heisman run.

Gurley secrets coming out

I wonder how much money UGA has had to spend on attorney fees so far?....

There's lawyer fees for the University, and UGA is also paying for gurley's personal attorney......

This is all on top of the more than $75K that UGA paid to insure him against career-ending injury.........

In terms of legal loophole payments for student-athletes, this probably makes Gurley the highest paid athlete in NCAA History so far!

Woo hoo! UGA! UGA! UGA! UGA!
