Yep, I bet he sent all 3 grand home to family. No way he paid for all the tats with any of it.

Thank you, signing autographs for some extra cash doesn't warrant the hate he is getting this morning.

Who said he had to send all of it home for family to be the primary motivation?

We don't know where the money went, but it's wrong to think that his background wouldn't play into his decision to take the risk, imo

No it doesn't. But what does is that he KNEW of the consequences yet CONTINUED to do so regardless of the consequences against him or the team. There is a difference.

Gurley made a mistake. He's not the first high level college athlete to do so, and he won't be the last. People are making this out to be much more of a character flaw than what it likely is.

You can never make the same mistake twice because the second time you make it, it’s not a mistake, it’s a choice.

That being said, it is what it is. I hope he plays and plays well against Auburn.

So when I locked my keys in my car the second time, I did it on purpose?

Absolutely. But why do we have this negative reaction to Todd returning when we were so excited for JSW, or Rambo back in 2012.?

Everyone has opinions, just like everyone makes mistakes. Intentional or not, we ALL lack good or rational judgement at times. I am not the least be supportive of Gurley's choice to do what he did, but I don't fault him either. He's a KID surrounded by temptations that 99% of us would be unable to resist. And he's seen other big name athletes get slapped on the wrist for the same stuff. He could not have anticipated Allen would have ratted him out knowing how many others have signed memorabilia for him. Overall, Gurley has handled himself like a MAN, period. He made a kid mistake, but he's fessed up and taking his punishment like he should. With regards to him wearing a "Free Gurley" t-shirt, why not? I'd have fun with it too. Life's too short, and he knows he's potentially one play (and injury) away from never playing again. The dude messed up, don't sell out on him. Once a Dawg, always a Dawg. If we don't stand by our own, no one else will, I guarantee it. It's easy to support someone when they're doing something for you, it sucks when they mess up. It's not easy right now, but stand behind Gurley, I promise you he's hurting because of the choices he made. He needs to know his family is behind him. I know the team is behind him, why not all of us?
Be angry, that's fine, but stand behind him. He's OUR Dawg! He needs us behind him just as much, if not more, than we need him on the field.

the stats would prove otherwise.

Your team does not get better by losing the best player in the country.

I agree 100%

So did every other player in the history of college football that has taken money, cars, trips, etc. The only difference in this case is that Gurley took money from a broke Florida fan who's business had just failed and was trying to prevent a decrease in value of the last big investment he had left.

I'm curious if you were saying all of this same stuff about AJ back in '10...

I wish I had access to old threads when Mettenberger was kicked off team, when Crowell was kicked off team, AJ was suspended, etc.

If y'all were FSU fans would you be twice as pissed at Winston as you are about Gurley?

Just seems some are taking a real high road when in perspective it's not nearly as bad as you make it.

I bet Muschamp shot his wad when he heard this. He will lose by less now.

Auburn better be ready for one hyped up Gurley!

frick that. You and your family have made it 17/18 years w/o autograph money. They can wait 3 more years for you to make it in the NFL.

Stop making excuses for this shite.

I'm not saying it wasn't a mistake. It clearly was a mistake.

Very disappointed in Gurley. He always struck me as having better character than many of the punks in college football these days.

With that said, if he serves his punishment, he should play. I certainly think that he should no longer be a captain going forward, though.
