So, basically MSU has the inside track, they can lose one. The others . . . no.

The other three competing SECW teams can't lose a game.
And, about the only possible way to get TWO teams in is for one of the three remaining SECW teams to run the table. Or, for Georgia to run the table and win the SEC Championship game AND beat an undefeated MSU team. If not, we will be looking at one team getting in without winning the SEC Championship or even competing for it. Will that happen?
There is no scenario that would involve THREE teams getting in. One would have at least 2 loses.

Do you think Dan Muffin is already prepping for Ole Miss since he can lose to Bama??

I know we are in a very enviable position to be ranked #1 and be undefeated. We can drop 1 and still make a play for top 4 as long as our loss is to a top team.

A two loss team can't make the playoff!?!?
No way!
No way!

MSU would have to play an extra game in that scenario, which could hurt them for the playoff with injuries for instance.

On second thought - I do see some maybes:
If OM wins out and loses to Georgia in the SEC Championship game - are they in? Maybe, but that would involve MSU losing two games or MSU passes them.
If OM loses to AU and wins at MSU - are they in? No, no chance for the SEC Championship game unless MSU loses to Bama.
If OM beats AU and loses to MSU - are they in? No.
If AU wins out but loses to Georgia in SEC Championship game (a team they already beat) - are they in? Maybe, but they need for MSU to have multiple losses.
If AU beats OM but loses to UA - are they in? No
If AU loses to OM but beats UA - are they in? No
If UA wins out and loses to Georgia - are they in? Maybe, in a close game with the other SECW teams having two losses.
If UA beats MSU and loses to AU - are they in? No

If a 2 loss SEC champ, can make the BCSCG, seems very possible, they could make the playoff. Must be SEC champ though.

So, no two SECW teams can EVER make it in?
Is that what you are saying?

Be prepared for Arkansas to possibly knock you completely out of the playoff this weekend then, if it has to be to a 'top' team.
Just food for thought. Not likely, but could happen if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot.

Wut? Where in the world did you derive that?

You stated: "must be SEC champ though."
What if you are an SECW team with one loss and not an SEC Champ? Could happen to MSU if they lose to UA or OM only.

Yea, I said you need to win the SEC. The likelihood of the SEC champ having 3 losses is very low. I don't think any non conference champs get in.

So, if MSU loses to Alabama by 1 point and Bama makes and wins the Championship game with no further loses - MSU doesn't get in with just one loss?
Posted on 10/28/14 at 9:34 pm to Bham4Tide
I don't think so. I think they try their hardest to get 4 conference champs in. Don't let today fool you. Sure, anything is possible in football, but I don't see the SEC getting 2 teams in. Mizzou wins the SEC, we could get none in. JMHO.

Now . . .
Now . . .

No, drinking, but I am far from the only person here, who thinks they try their best to have only conference champs. Big 10 likely to be left out. Big 12 likely won't. FSU would need to implode(with Jameis Winston) could be possible(enter ND). Oregon, likely has too much.

You didn't need to see the rankings tonight to know that MSU is the only one who could take a loss. And no joke the SEC won't get three teams in. As for two, the only chance I see is either MSU and Auburn or Ole Miss and Alabama both winning out. MSU/Ole Miss would be SEC champ and Auburn/Alabama would have beaten three ranked teams in November and been left out of the SECCG at 11-1.
