What Conclusion to draw from Ole Miss' Defensive Performance Last Week

Going into last Saturday, Ole Miss was near universally considered the best defense in both the SEC and the country.
After they gave up a veritable avalanche of rushing yards to LSU, do we draw the conclusion that Louisville actually has the best defense in the country and Ole Miss looked good because they haven't played anyone? Or, do we draw the conclusion that Louisville's defense probably isn't good either because, as Ole Miss showed, who a team plays has much to do with the perception of that team and why one could mistake an average defense for a great one.

Ole Miss only gave up 10 points to LSU at night in DV
They're still really good
They're still really good

Or Ole Miss had a bad game while only giving up 10 points?
Teams are still allowed to have those right?

If you have a physical O-line and strong RB's, you can negate the D's speed and wear them down.

We played the run better in the second half.

Dude, our defense was on the field the whole game. The way our offense played, it's incredible that our defense only gave up 10. Lolol @ debating our defense vs Louisville's.

This. I'm the first half LSU punched us in the face and we held on by key turnovers.
In the second half we had great halftime adjustments and minus the one 95 yard drive we shut LSU down for the most part.

They bent and didn't break. Actually got better as the game went on (didn't get worn down) and got 4 takeaways which is their season average. Not their fault the offense couldn't score more than 7 points.

Was it not the talking point before the game that tackle numbers for Ole Miss are depressed because of how many three and outs they generated on the season? You don't think a reversal of that fortune is relevant in any way to how the defense played or should be perceived? That's an odd position to stake out.

We learned what we told LSU posters all last week. You beat them by not bailing on the run even though your TD was a pass the gassed defense was out of it at that point. The OM defense is not very deep and it will really be tested now. That they have multiple injuries to their starters. You also can't win if your only rushing threat is a head-case QB who jaws with fans in the stands.

Bottom line: we still have the best D in the country.

We are terrible.
Nah, really though we are the best in the nation. Defense was not the problem last Saturday in any way, shape or form.
Anytime you force 4 turnovers and give up a grand total of 10 pts then you expect to win. LSU ran the ball well but they actually struggled to do so after halftime adjustments until the very last drive of the 4th Qtr. Even then, they needed to throw to get the TD as it was pretty obvious they were going to struggle to get it in the Endzone running inside the 10.
D is looking great but the coaches really have to let go of this we will play D and run the ball on Offense when we spent all spring and fall for the past three years not developing a power run game and we don't have an elite back.

Then State's defense absolutely blows for allowing 29 points to the same team.

What I'm saying is y'all didn't abandon the run. Y'all played to our defensive schemes weakness and didn't abandon it. Most teams we have played this year, abandon it. Y'all tried twice to catch us off guard and we intercepted both of them. LSU's RBs and OL played great. Them, your DL, and the fans in attendance tie for game MVP.

Ole Miss' rush defense gives up twice as many yards per game as Louisville's.

Yes, our 3rd string defense is pretty suspect.
