Since we're over halfway through the season perhaps we can glean a little about this matchup by the stats.
Alabama total defense: #5 277.3 ypg
LSU total offense: #62 414 ypg
LSU total defense: #13 318.1 ypg
Alabama total offense: #14 508.9 ypg
Alabama scoring offense: #25 36.5 ppg
LSU scoring defense: #6 15.9 ppg.
LSU scoring offense: #42 32.8 ppg
Alabama scoring defense: #3 14.0 ppg
Alabama rushing defense: #2 78.1 ypg
LSU rushing offense: #24 225.7 ypg
LSU rushing defense: #65 159.7 ypg
Alabama rushing offense:#28 218.6 ypg
Alabama passing offense: #23 290.3 ypg
LSU passing defense: #3 158.4 ypg
LSU passing offense: #99 188.6 ypg
Alabama passing defense: #25 199.1 ypg
Some things I found surprising: LSU is ranked higher than I thought in passing defense. This will give Sims fits, particularly if they bracket Cooper. What will we do differently to ensure that Sims can succeed if he has to rely on other receivers?
Both teams are very close in scoring defense. This was surprising given how many points they gave up to Auburn and Miss St.
Passing offense for LSU looks to be a struggle, and good thing because our passing defense hasn't been a bright spot on this team for awhile.

Yeah lots of interesting match-ups in this game. I think the x factor will be Sims ability to make plays with his feet.

I said it in the other thread, but this offense lives and dies by Sims. Our o-line cant impose its will on another team like we use to do back in 2012. We don't have Mark Ingram type back that can carry the whole team on his shoulders (some of that also has to do with the oline)
If we can get UT Sims then we will win. We get Arky Sims and we lose.

You know who had the 2nd best pass defense in the sec (almost identical numbers to lsu before the game)? Tennessee. Cooper got the single game yardage record against them. They also had the best 3rd down defense in the country going into that game and we were great on third downs. Also, that stadium Saturday was add loss add anything we will experience the rest of the year and we looked better on getting the plays in. I like our chances in this one. Lsu will be on an emotional high, so we need to jump on them early though

Really? That is awesome if true.

I don't buy that they're as good as the stats say in pass defense. They got lit up by both Dak and Marshall and basically padded their stats against piss poor passing attacks from Wisconsin and Florida plus a few cupcakes.
UK and Ole Miss were good showings by them though. Perhaps they really have improved that much.

man our pass D is so suspect but thank god LSU is awful on offense. This game does have me a bit worried with us losing Robinson. Who the hell plays LT? BROWN?

Brown should play LT, but he's a hell of a lot better tackle than he is a guard.

Shephard was at LT today with Hill at RT

I imagine they'll try out a few different combos during the bye week. Hopefully they find a good one
