That's actually a great idea. Break away face asks would make it obvious that there was a penalty as well.

it'd make the game far, far more dangerous.
A guy is running and his facemask gets pulled off but there's still 5 defenders around him. Extremely possible someone is going in to make a tackle (at the same time the mask is getting taken off) and he's now going for a dude whose bare face is exposed.

Garuntee OM would have gotten away with that facemask call. One of the officials was protecting them like they were Bama.

It would have to be a different design. Not just throw on some breakaway facemasks to the current mold.

I'd say the most brutal face mask I've seen was on Shaud Williams against UT in either 2002 or 2003. If someone has a gif of it, please post it.
He took a simply hand off going up the middle, but a UT defender reached out and got his facemask. It ended up looking like he got clothes-lined.

So LSU is so poor they can not afford home and away jerseys, but also can't afford a few screws to properly attach a face mask to a helmet?
