Worst QB in Mizzou history, he will go down as most hated since Pinkel will never pull him.

Big second half coming...I promise

from Vandy, I'm gonna make a bold prediction that mizzou doesnt win another home game this year. Mauk is that bad, kentucky and arkansas will shut us out.

I'm impressed! The way he handed off to Hasbrough was flawlessly executed. THAT should put an end to the Mauk nay-sayers.

Ground game wins it for us. We're wearing them down up front.
Seriously though, I though Mauk would break out this game. Seeing their true freshman have better poise is really depressing. I guess a team can make a change at QB with an inexperienced freshman and survive.

Are you implying that Vandy is "surviving" this season?

I'm implying that things don't automatically go to shite because you make a change. That it is possible in D1 football to make a change even though the next man up may be a freshman. Like LSU, A&M and manziel, Kentucky.

Well, if they would have given the spot to Printz out of camp that would have been one thing...
You implied that somehow Vandy starting a FR QB shows a team can "survive".

Mauk did play better today, just not a whole lot better.

maybe this is the first step. fingers crossed!

Ok, I just pulled up the box score.
11 of 23??? That's not exactly a great step.
141 yards??? Ummm, this was Vandy.
The only positive I can see from reading the box score is that he didn't throw any INT's.

There are a lot of facets of the offense that need to get "better".
I just think outside of our RBs we are just not that talented this year on offense. WR/(PB)OL/TE/QB ALL issues at this point.
Its probably very hard for many Mizzou fans to wrap their heads around given our recent history with prolific offenses. Team is going to have to find ways to score and rely on the defense to do some things.

Mauk played well today, picking up two key first downs with running plays also accounting for the longest play of the game. His receivers dropped at leas two passes that should have been caught possibly extending drives. (Sasser hitch route/Culkin over the middle). Mauk completed his first screen pass to a running back ever today! Mauk didn't make any critical mistakes (i.e. int's/ sacks caused by him holding the ball too long) His offensive line killed many drives today by having 3 false starts, giving up a sack on his blind side which could have caused a turnover. Mauk's biggest inhibitor is his supporting cast not being the same level it was last season. Mauk made strides this week

yea don't think Mauk could reasonably take credit for all those penalties. RB's are not hardly the problem though, Murph and Hans have been pretty studly and averaged some decent ypc.

sadly it is an improvement, and some of the step forward comes from what he didn't do wrong, like throw picks and get called for grounding. Very small steps at this point.

Observations of Mizzery:
Mauk stayed in the pocket longer than I've seen before, made some throws, hit some hands.
He clearly only trusts Sasser, tries to steer it to anyone else.
Could someone tell Hansborough that a left turn could open up a whole new vista on life and football?
Do we have the slowest, clumsiest looking handoffs in football?

I think most of us recognize, understand and agree with this.
What most of us didn't see coming (Sleepy being the most outspoken exception) was Mauk's regression. Or maybe more accurately - his lack of improvement, especially on the short to intermediate stuff. Most of us thought he was talented and got fooled.
If he wasn't misfiring on the majority of his high percentage routes we wouldn't be having these in-fight discussions. The chains would be moving. But as it stands he's either regressed or not improved his accuracy from last year to this. And unless they figure out how to improve it, he'll never be more than miserable.
Hearing QB experts talk, accuracy starts with footwork. So I'm assuming his it based on his mechanics. But who knows?

Well, He misses throws. There is plenty of blame to put on him but he isnt the only reason the chains are not moving.
I mean, I get the anger at Mauk. I dont think he has played well at all. What I dont get is the continued opinion that he is the "principle point" of bad play on this offense.
Im not even a Mauk "fan". I just recognize the other factors that are contributing to the offensive woes.
I keep asking this question and no one seems to want to answer:
What has happened between last year and this year on offense.
The OL isnt as good. The WR are not even remotely as good. The TE play hasnt developed. The QB play hasnt played well.
The biggest constant is the QB between last year and this year. So what causes the fall off?
The QB has to own his part but I still contend that its the other areas of the offense thats the bigger concern in this order, OL,WR,QB,TE.
That stat about Mizzou WR's owing the worst drop % in the power 5 should cause those Mizzou fans interested in being honest about their analysis some pause.

Don't disagree. Like I said, fell asleep during the game so I'm just going by the box score this week. Planned on watching it but frankly, there are better games on right now.
I agree. We're just not that good this year. And what is scary is, this team is so in the race for the east.
