is a foregone conclusion and he plays against Florida. what a meltdown of titanic proportions will occur in the bulldawg nation if the NCAA goes the other way and decides to teach UGA a lesson. I personally hope this is over, but am stocking up with popcorn, nachos, and beer just in case.

There is no reason for the NCAA not to let Gurley come back if Allen stated he only gave Gurley $400. $400 is a two game suspension.

There was no reason for AJ Green to get 4 games for selling a Jersey considering an Alabama player got 2 games the same year for something worse.

I have zero faith in the NCAA so I am not getting my hopes up.

Anytime something important for UGA hinges on a timely decision from the NCAA we should be nervous.

that assumes the NCAA accepts the schools and Gurley's atty's investigative findings. They don't have to and ,I believe can launch their own investigation. We should have heard good news by now.

AJ got 4 games for $1,000, perfectly in line with NCAA bylaws. We are under the assumption Gurley took $400 since his accuser told the news that yesterday. $400 = 2 game suspension per NCAA bylaws.

What are you fricking stupid or u just want to be a pessimist? UGA has been working with the NCAA in this investigation. Yes there's a possibility but the more reasonable conclusion is a two game suspension with him back in Jacksonville

It would not bode well for the NCAA TO try and get cute with UGA considering we....unlike some other shitty florida s hool....held our star player out...did our investigation and abided by their rules ...they give gurley anymore games and they will be crucified by the media...imo it's a no brainer

That was his punishment. Notice the crime:

quote:

According to Alabama, the benefits included airfare, lodging, meals and transportation during two trips to Miami. A second trip had not previously been disclosed.

That is not the same as receiving cold hard money from a dealer, not associated with the university. There's been a lot of discussion here at the rant and various media outlets that have pulled out specific clauses from the NCAA regulations that key in on $400 as a very significant figure. It's no coincidence that this is the figure BA is giving.

Also:

quote:

The student-athlete reinstatement staff reduced a suspension from a potential four games to two because of mitigating circumstances in the case, the NCAA news release said.

No reason to believe that TGs suspension would be longer than what is defined by the NCAA. The AJ Green case was in line. The AL case that you presented here was a reduced suspension.

Exactly just because we haven't heard anything yet does not mean bad news for UGA. The process takes 24-48 hours anyways

Aj got a thousand dollars (reportedly) which put him in the category where the NCAA got to choose what time he would miss. If I read it right they could have given him more time.

How is it not the same?

If you fly me somewhere and buy all of my shite. You just gave me that amount in cash because I didn't have to pay for it. Dareus recieved over $1,700dollars in free shite and his suspension was half of AJ Green's.

The NCAA even gave a bullshite excuse on the suspension

Maybe because AL likes to play dirty and UGA does not...UGA might coulda talked the NCAA into 2 games for AJ, but I think we know that doesn't seem to be their style. Agree or disagree with their approach to the NCAA, it is what it is. It's a lot easier to talk your way out of benefits on a trip than it is bills placed directly in your pocket.

Ultimately, if TG only took $400, I haven't seen anything that suggests he would receive more than a 2 game suspension.

Dareus violated the preferential treatment rule whereas Gurley violated the rule where he can't profit off of his own likeness. In the grand scheme of things it may look the same to us but are different in the eyes of the NCAA.

The NCAA has no rush to say anything today because Georgia is not playing this week. We should hear something sometime next week on Gurley's status if nothing is said today.

I figured they'd just want to get this off their plate like someone mentioned above. They are going to have their hands full working out how they are going to hand out the death penalty to UNC and what they are going to do with all of the trophies they confiscate and melt down.
