Why is this even a discussion?

Gurley starts and carries the load. Chubb gets some carries throughout the game and the rest of the season when Gurley needs a breather. Then Chubb starts next year.

Good Gawd....it ain't rocket science.

To paraphrase the great Bud Kilmer Chubb is good, but he sure ain't got what Gurley's got.

And no one is arguing that. If you had read the OP you would know that I'm not saying they do this as a slight or punishment to Gurley. This is just a tip of the cap to the true freshmen who carried the ball 68 times over a 2 game stretch. Put him in for a play so he gets "the start" and then put Gurley in.

I was just giving you a hard time man. It's all gravy. Personally I just prefer to have my hoss back there. After all these last few games will be the last time we get to watch Gurley in red and black.

Does Chubb Deserve to Start? Short Answer - Yes, he deserves it, no question.

Should he start? No.

To quote Herm Edwards, "Hello, you play to win the game". To do that, you play your best, period. Gurley is the best in the country at his position. You start him. He served his time, probably more then he should have, and now it's time to release him and let him drop the hammer of justice on anyone who gets in the way.

There's no question Chubb has earned to opportunity to start. He would be starting for most any other team in the country. But not here, not now. He will. And he will dominate.
He did something for this team that will make us better this year. He helped this team understand the concept of "team". Not in a teachable way, but in an emotional, "in the trenches" kind of way. This team now believes in themselves, not just in Gurley.
So yes, he deserves it. But it shouldn't happen, not yet.

I think Gurley should start, but wear #27 to respect Chubb. Chubb can then wear #3 to respect Gurley. And UF will be even more confused than they already are.

This right here.

Chubb did his job and did it admirably, but now the job is for UGA to beat Florida. Gurley gives us the best chance to do that.

Chubb will get his shot.

I am with Crow 100% on this. Hata, I think the idea of Chubb starting is nice and all and the kid deserves a standing ovation when he gets in. But his shot is coming. Next year he can battle Michel to be THE guy for the backfield. Right now Gurley is out guy and there is no shame in that. I don't wanna give Chubb a ceremonial start because I think 1) it isn't neccessarry and 2) idk, maybe it'll put the fire in Chubb's belly (not that he needs more) to keep on keeping on and make the most of his back up carries. The kid now should have the confidence and know that he is capable and he will be great after those 2 games.

And Gurley did make a mistake and put the team in jeopardy with his actions. I think he did and part of his legacy will be tarnished by some if not all. That happened. But idk why we'd punish him further than he already has been by the suspension. I know that isn't what your goal is with this thought but in a way it kind of is a punishment. Let the kid get back in and do what he does best. And then let Chubb get carries against an already devastated defense.

Simple answer is no. Gurley all day there's really no argument here.

I think y'all are really just reading far too much in to this. I'm literally talking about 1 play, just so he's listed as the starter. Then bring Gurley in.

But whatever, we'll see what happens. I don't really care either way they want to do it. They both goin in dry.

I get what you're saying, but Gurley playing that one play gives UGA a better chance to win the game, even if it's only a tiny difference.

Also, I know this wouldn't be the intention, but you would be punishing Gurley. This is his last WLOCP. He'll never get this back. He's served his time and has earned the start over the past three years, aside from just being the better player.

The Gurley suspension is hopefully over. We need to move on now.
