Id say so. They finished the last 2 years in the top 10. Several ranked finishes the years before that. It's not UO, but it ain't bad. I'm all for giving UO less exposure in Texas too.

I want a series with Tulane dammit.

I'd love either penn st., Ohio st. Or michigan. I just want a reason to go see a ball game at one of those places.

Cal doesn't have much scheduled then. Would y'all consider Cal an equal replacement for Oregon (since Washington State was not considered on that level)? Although, who really knows by 2018...
This entire strength of schedule myth is way overblown. I don't know where it came from but my conspiracy side says its just a way for ESPN to get more exiting matchups on TV. Its important to note that they control a lot of the tier 1 media rights for the BigTen, ACC, and Pac12 (and for 1st week of season the SEC as well), so when high profile matchups happen, they are smiling.
Strength of schedule didn't matter before when it was #1 vs #2 and now its supposed to matter with 4 spots open??? Not buying it. Go undefeated and you're in. Go 11-1 and the SEC SOS will get you in. When was the last time an 11-1 team was left outside the top 4 in the polls? Off the top of my head I think that was Alabama, and they got a rematch against LSU.

fricking Clemson
What a letdown

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not upset about this because of SOS. I'm mad because I want to see exciting games throughout the season.
Playing schools like Lamar and SMU is boring and does nothing for me. When we schedule a big name team like Oregon, I get excited and want to see that game. Now I don't get to see that, and it's replaced with a lesser team that I saw us play 10 years ago.

Just another round of tigers to poach, is all I will say.
In all seriousness, it's a good replacement. They've been a solid program in the ACC for a while now....

And unlike Oregon their state has some recruits we might want.
Oregon and their Nike Trust Fund attitude can go poach someone else's talent.

If y'all were spending thousands for season tickets you would be celebrating this. The Arky/Dallas thing screws us, and there is no way we want to pay for only 5 games and 3 of them being scrubs.

Truth.
I wonder if UO wasn't willing to work with us or wasn't able to.

They were in the exact spot in their schedule if we flipped the dates. So it couldn't work for either school.
The issue was mutual.

I can't believe people are complaining about playing Clemson.
they've been to 6 straight bowls (will be 7 this year), have won at least 10 games the last 3, and finished int he top 10 the last 2.
It's not like Oregon was replaced with some scrub bullshite team and as a season ticket holder I am very happy due to the switch that I'm not going to get screwed with another 6 game home schedule.

Agreed
It stil seems chickensh!t to cancel Oregon, but nothing at all wrong with Clemson

Same. I was excited for Oregon but this is a perfectly suitable replacement given the scenario

Seems a bit over the top. After they declined the swap of home games, it wasn't an option to keep Oregon on the schedule
We will probably never play any school with 5 conference road games the same year we play only 3 home conference games. Neither side will agree to just 6 home games. So schools like Oregon are simply off the table until we kill the Jerryworld game. This makes half the PAC and B1G non-options for the foreseeable future.

So this might not be the only game canned?

No, the problem is we just can't have an away game on years we play Arky at Jerry world when we are considered the "home" team
Oregon had the same issue if we swapped the years so it had to be canceled.
We can book with any of these teams, it just worked out that Oregon's schedule had the same issue on the opposite year.
