I didn't post much then. I do remember that being the company line, though.

One thing I've noticed with the JW situation, is the reporting is a lot more lawless. I'm hardly seeing any 4:00 stories.

Don't know how anyone can follow that type of anarchy

Everyone and there brother who had a blog or even a twitter account had connections to what was happening with Cam and Auburn.

My favorite was the FedEx man that reported delivering the LOI to Auburn...

We did defend Cam in requiring proof before he was punished.

I don't think any AU fan in their right mind could argue that there's a 0% chance Cam got paid. All great players get paid.

The difference is Winston has multiple proven minor transgressions and a known cover-up on his major accusation. Winston is a case of a miscarriage of justice. Cam was a case that was more or less identical to every CFB star.

Especially considering the overall consensus was JUCO transfer QBs don't work in the SEC, AU would be lucky to make a bowl game, and our only competition was MSU with a sprinkle of Oklahoma.

Once it was determined Cam might be pretty damned good, the chapped asses came out to breath their wounds.

I really wish I had been here then.

With Cam I loved the precedent UGA fans and others wanted which was 1) accuse, 2) sit, 3) investigate.

Well hell two can play at that game, Gurley's uncle wanted $180K for him to go to Auburn. Need to sit him. Oh and... Bo Wallace's aunt. And a good friend of Henrys said the same. Sit them all with 5 weeks to go.

JW: Kid is not right and has proven that time and time again, but he is in the clear unless evidence appears (like a phone that was tossed). The focus with JW really is no longer JW, it's FSU and the TPD and if they covered up. It's more in the Penn St territory.

How did MSU escape unscathed in that whole debacle with a booster seeking money to get a kid to come there? If one single booster had admitted to doing that at Auburn they'd wanted the whole school burned to the ground.

Speaking of JW, I can't remember if I posted this here or it's been posted before but this was from last November:

Jameis Winston Isn't The Only Problem Here: An FSU Teacher's Lament

Money quote:
quote:

We [teachers] love the game. We love the players, too, even when they scare us.

quote:

But we're increasingly flummoxed by the football culture surrounding Tallahassee, one that's grown malignant with the wins and the scrutiny, like a traditional Islamic country turned radical and defensive, its craziest pilgrims whirling around Doak Campbell Stadium, the black cube at the center of their Mecca.

Amongst several stories of threatening players, seemingly abused players and handlers, there was this:

quote:

A few minutes into my explanation of why plagiarism wasn't kosher, the receiver's attention seemed elsewhere. He asked if there was a bathroom nearby; he excused himself. He returned about five minutes later, and his demeanor had changed considerably. His legs were quivering, his arms shuddered, and though it was clear he was making an effort, he couldn't focus on my laptop and the work we'd started. "Hot in here," he complained, sweating and stripping off his warm-up top in the middle of a cool basement space where my fellow tutors and I were still wearing winter coats. With 15 minutes left in our session, he rose suddenly, anxious to go to the library and finish the paper, he said.

Through a supervisor, I contacted the academic handlers about the receiver, but never heard a response. This was early last December, less than a week before the police began investigating a sexual assault that allegedly involved Jameis Winston.

The Jameis thing is a million times worse. There is an actual person as the victim of his assault. The Cam thing at its worst was just about money and a possible NCAA rules violation.

For awhile I tried to argue, but it just got to the point of saying what's the use? The IQ level on the board was even lower than it is today, surprisingly enough.

Second, and I may be wrong, but I don't remember anyone really defending Cam.

Why shouldn't I have been defending Cam? There were a number of us defending Cam as far as I can remember.

Now it may have been more of a "if the ATM card doesn't fit, you must acquit" defense, but we were defending nonetheless.

I don't think he did.

I think the best indication of that is after Cam signed with AU, Cecil said something like he "didn't want Cam to be a rented mule".

I always found that statement extremely odd from the get-go until the hullabaloo started. Then it made an odd kind of sense to me because I saw it as him saying that Cam decided to go to Churchill Downs as a thoroughbred rather than be paid to be a mule used to clean the tracks at Biloxi (if Biloxi even has tracks ).

180 is what MSU agreed to pay. Then his dad said he would just be a rented mule. I thought everyone knew this? Mullins wife made a statement on it, which pinned them. They shutup after she opened her mouth. Cam is the main reason Mullin hates us We trolled him hard.

It'd had taken more than $180K for me to go to Mississippi St too.

I always loved that line.

There was nothing natural about the progression of that situation. If we're still talking about ATPB, that is.

I'm to this day fascinated with the unique ways posters tried to tie stuff together.

There wasn't any proof that an MSU booster actually offered to pay $180k only that Cecil solicited that money. Then some other evidence of one former player trying to arrange to get that kind of money.

I am here because of the ATPB thread. I followed it religiously for some time. I never really believed Auburn would hand a family 200k to play for us. I guess I believe any PFP scheme Auburn or any of the better schools run is much more sophisticated than what was being said about Cam.

The die hard ATPB people were bat crazy though. I still laugh thinking about the flow chart and all those idiots.

Exactly backwards.

The "fixer" is the one that brought it up to Cecil.

No wonder ATPB enjoyed such a damn long run if even AU fans can't keep it straight.

Forgive me but I do believe Cecil was at least accused of bringing up money.

LINK

Also that Cecil admitted discussing it.

LINK

I also believe some text supported these accusations.

LINK

I am not sure how that is "exactly backwards" Do you have the link of where it was brought up to Cecil?
