“I know how to become a top-five team,” former UCLA coach and Pac-12 analyst Rick Neuheisel said. “Just play Texas A&M.”

“AP hard at work to make sure first playoff has 4 SEC teams. #SECbias,” posted to Twitter by @jAwhatley2.

Mississippi State rose to No. 1 by beating three top-10 SEC teams.
too bad STATS don't back that up:
quote:
According to research done by STATS, SEC teams have risen an average of 2.8 places in the rankings after winning conference games this season.
By comparison, Big 12 teams rose an average of 3.1 places, and Pac-12 teams have moved up 2.3 spots.
as to the falling:
quote:
The average drop for ranked SEC teams after conference losses is 7.5 spots, tied for the most with the Pac-12. The Big 12’s average poll drop after a conference loss is 7.0 spots, followed by the Big Ten (5.5) and the ACC (4.3).

Neuheisel displaying the ultimate case of butthurt. His first quote should have been more along the lines of, "I know how to become a top-five team. Play in the only real conference in America, the SEC." That I could have supported.

Maybe the other top 5 teams from other conferences should stop losing to shitty teams and the SEC teams won't move up so much

No, no you don't, Rick. This is obvious. Strum your guitar and STFU.

The SEC butthurt is the same every year. Despite the SECW having zero losses outside of playing each other until last week (the worst SECW team playing a top 10 SECE team), they still complain. Even after going 7-3 in bowls last year, the whiners just point at OU's thrashing Bama and use that as their "evidence." Nothing will convince them.

Lets look at the teams who have contributed to this stat.
Bold = Power 5 Conference
Italics = SEC East
Ole Miss
Boise State 5-2
Vandy 2-5
Louisiana-Lafeyette 4-3 (1-3 out of conference)
Memphis 3-3
MSU
Southern Miss 3-4
UAB 4-3
South Alabama 4-2
Alabama
West Virginia 5-2
Florida Atlantic 3-4
Southern Miss 3-4
Auburn
San Jose State 3-3
Kansas State 5-1
Louisiana Tech 4-3
LSU
Wisconsin 4-2
San Jose State 3-3
Louisiana-Monroe 3-3
New Mexico State 2-6
Florida 3-3
Kentucky 5-2
A&M
South Carolina4-3
Lamar 5-3 (FCS)
Rice 3-3
SMU 0-6
Arkansas
Nichols State 0-8 (FCS)
Texas Tech 3-4
Northern Illinois 5-2
Not exactly world beaters. I'll give you West Virgnia and Kansas State as two solid teams. 8/26 from "Power 5" conference. 4 of those 8 are SEC East. A total of 4 ooc games are "Power 5." A total of 2 ranked teams out of 26. Agree that the SECW is the best division in college football, but losses vs non SEC schools isn't very indicative of superiority until bowl season when top 25 match ups are common.
7-3 in bowls last year is a better gauge.
