Pro Football Focus' entire method of grading can be found here, but a short synopsis is that a 0.0 is the average grade, meaning that anything over 2.0 is a good grade, and anything over 4.0 is fantastic, according to most.

Scores:
Nick Marshall- 4.7
Reese Dismukes- 4.8
Mincy- 4.5
Frost- 3.6

If the Tigers had that many standout players in the game, then how did Auburn come up on the losing end? According to Pro Football Focus' grades, the Bulldogs offensive line outplayed Auburn's defensive line, won a key battle against Shon Coleman at left tackle, and Auburn's receivers, outside of D'haquille Williams, struggled mightily, with three pass-catchers earning negative grades.

Turnovers and red zone frickups... that's how. Coleman struggled, like most first year LT starters do against elite DLs.... Coates had some tough luck on the OPI call and stepping out of the EZ.

The turnovers in our own territory and not scoring TDs in RedZone. Also missed FG.

We lost that game. We meet again in the playoffs, we'll win by two TDs.

Sums it up perfectly. I'm no NFL scout, but I am also not an idiot. We shot ourselves in the foot, arse, and head in that game.

Breakdown: It wasn’t always pretty for Marshall who looked erratic at times with his accuracy, but he showed off his arm with a few pinpoint downfield throws, even if they didn’t always show up on the stat sheet. He threw a well-placed deep ball to Sammie Coates that got negated by a questionable offensive pass interference penalty early in the third quarter and later hit Coates in the hands in the end zone before cornerback Will Redmond knocked it away at the 8:30 mark of the fourth quarter. The ball location was impressive on both passes, despite his lack of credit in the box score. Though Auburn’s comeback effort ended with a Marshall interception, he had his arm hit on the throw, so there was little he could so about that. Throw in Marshall’s usual fine work as a runner (+2.1) and it was an impressive overall effort.

Signature Stats: Marshall ran for 93 yards on 12 carries on designed quarterback runs.

Uhhhhhh... you realize these guys actually watch the tape and don't just assign a score based on the stat sheet, right?

Was it Marshall's fault Sammie went OOB on a sure TD catch? Marshall's fault Sammie got called for PI? Marshall's fault the OL couldn't protect him enough to get pass off (both INTs caused by DL in his face)? Marshall's fault Sammie won't try for a pass that hits his finger tips? Marshall's fault Coleman gets beat and forces him to throw it away?

Unlike you armchair experts, they actually watch the whole play and grade it.

For instance, if a WR runs a shitty, lazy route and the pass is incomplete, or they drop a ball placed right into their hands, or the WR steps out of bounds and doesn't realize it, they blame the WR, not the QB.

If the OG gets his arse dominated and pushed back into the QB and his man gets his hands up and tips the QB's pass, they blame the OG, not the QB.

They don't have the default 'BLAME DA QBZZZZZZ' switch. They actually watch the film with an open mind and no preconceived prejudice.
