But frick "we'll be .500 with a win" and "Mark Richt will almost have as many appearances as coaches who have been here half as long"

On the other hand, the only reason he has so much tenure is that all the other coaches have done poorly and been fired.

Same for Dan Mullen, Freeze, Sumlin and several others. In fact, very few coaches in the SEC have Titles, right? Miles and Saban is it, right? (I think) You can count Spurrier, but not while at USC.

They haven't all done poorly and been fired. Some excellent coaches have come and gone (and come back) but were not fired. They packed up and left either because they had better opportunities, were tired of being in the same place, or ran out of pretty blondes in the current town. As for coaching expertise, Richt, Saban, Spurrier, and Miles come to mind as elite coaches. A good argument can be made for any of those coaches being the best as far as success on the field goes. As for best all around, Richt is still #1 for me, but that's not quantifiable and is not based solely on W-L or championships.

I shite on the stats presented. If you want to prove Richt's success as a HC, there are much better stats to be pulled out than his SEC titles.

When did Malzahn win one as a head coach?

when did jefferson ever present this as some showcase of richt?

It's simply a few notable factoids related to UGA and the SECCG.

3 of his 7 stats are soley on Richt. They compare Richt's performance to other HCs. I pointed out that when you consider tenure, those stats/comparisons are not impressive.

Who left voluntarily? Meyer, I guess. I can't thnk of any others. Keep in mind we are talking about current head coaches, though. Your parameters, not mine. You said the stats were no good because Richt has so much tenure, not me.

I am a huge Richt booster....but I think Malzahn gives richt a run for his money all around. He recruits well, they rarely play poorly against teams thy should beat and he has gone to the National Championship. I would still prefer Richt, though.

I have no problem with anybody giving their opinion and will not criticize you or call you names because of your opinion.

I'm pretty sure we are talking about overall coaching success. Let me go back and read.

Pete Carroll, but he had the Bush/NCAA thing hanging over his head... Coker, Tressel, Chizik & Mack Brown were fired...

I didn't mention Meyer. I don't consider him elite but wouldn't argue against it. The 4 I listed: Richt, Spurrier, Saban, and Miles. All have less tenure, but not because they were fired (which is your claim for less tenure). Spurrier and Saban left voluntarily and have since come back. They still have less tenure.

I'm just following the original post and his requirement was current head coaches. That didn't come from me.

Not sure what you mean. But I agree. The stats presented in the original post don't look great when you consider tenure.

Thank you. Most people in this thread cannot say the same. It's annoying as hell when you say anything reasonable that is not kool-aid induced and get hounded by people drowning in kool-aid. Nowhere in this thread did I say we suck, Richt sucks, or we will lose. I said the stats presented suck. Therefore, I'm a moron who should not wear red and should never post again. Little do you realize that most of my posts this week have been in the kool-aid.

Not to mention if we win out including the SECCG the win in the game would put CMR dead on .750 win percentage

Eh. The Rant does that to people. It's a place to swap ideas and opinions, but some people (MOST people on here) get bent all out of shape if anybody disagrees with them. They reduce themselves to name calling......I think it is because they can't make an argument for their beliefs.

Oh, and when I was making my arguments, I was thinking of National accomplishments and not just SEC. I get into a SECRant mode and it's hard to break out of it sometimes.

22 SEC Championship Games so far......with both the East and West having 11 Championships a piece.

The West winning the last 5 in a row to even it up.
