Good example of why the ACC schools are so much better than all the others.

As much as I hate to give the NCAA any leeway or power, they need to lower the boom here. This was brazen academic fraud at a scale that undermines the academic integrity of the entire institution. This is way worse than any case of rogue boosters, agents, etc. Carolina sold its soul as an institution of higher learning to hang a few more banners in the Dean Dome.

Knowing the NCAA, little ECU will now get the Death Penalty for this.

Decades ago, I was told by our SAA to not take hard classes during the season and to not graduate early since I could play and go free for 5 years. This was with him knowing my high SAT and GPA. The UNC thing is just the refinement of all of this... Its going to take a TV or news investigative report that has no stake in any of this to really blow the top off it. The NCAAs days are numbered. Right now, College Presidents and ESPN and the like are already planning for what comes next I promise. This method has been highly profitable, but is not sustainable...

As Peter stated, UNC just took it up a notch from what every other school in the nation does. We all know about "football majors" like Housing at UGA. Honestly, I view it as a sad indictment on public institutes of higher learning as a whole and how they sold their souls to the NCAA and ESPN.

I had as much fun coaching and watching my boys when they played pee wee football as I do at a UGA game. That is the paradox. We could hold try outs at UGA and UF from within the student body of 100% non recruited kids who got into UGA with no football help. They could put on the unis and we would love to see them play. Until they continually got the shite kicked out of them. THen it wouldnt be as much fun. That is the reality....

It would be nothing more than like watching the Ivy League play except the games would be held in huge stadiums that would be about 10 to 15% full and the games would be broadcast on PBS/GPTV

The initial novelty would be pretty cool I suppose but that would wear off quickly.
