However, don't let that stop you guys from your "backup school" joke you love to throw around. Don't worry, it's still hilarious.

I'd love to compare the freshman entrance figures between the 2 schools.

If Auburn isn't the academic backup plan, then prove it in your average freshman enrollee.

UGA is probably higher, there are many more students in Georgia thus more people fighting for spots allowing them to be more selective. Not to mention the fact that Georgia in general has a higher educational standard than Alabama.

However, in what ultimately matters there is a clear winner...

If AU is their academic backup plan it is because they do not want to go to Tech. If the HOPE Scholarship ever dried up, UGA would be in trouble. You can beat your chest over the freshman entrance requirements, but without the HOPE Scholarship, most of those students would have other options.

Does Alabama not care about their students?

I agree. How did we ever make it through those 208 years we existed before the HOPE.

I can't believe I actually respond to this idiocy.

"In trouble" is not really true at all but UGA's academic reputation did go way up with the HOPE scholarship.

No, I am saying you're horrible people, but having a better football team is more important in football than integrity, justice, reading (looking at you Eddie Lacy), and just about anything Karma would favor.

All the kids in my high school who couldn't get into Georgia went to Auburn. It's a school full of Atlanta rejects.

Nah, Alabama is dominant against the run.

Don't see how that helps when Bama is sitting at home.

I linked the student enrollment numbers at Auburn by state below. According to those numbers, only about 12 percent of the students at Auburn even come from the state of Georgia. I also read in an article last year that 40 percent of all current Auburn students were legacies. Those numbers wouldnt leave much room for Georgia rejects

When UGa last won a title, a section of Germany was under the rule of the USSR as a result of WW2.

Using a median approach would be interesting,,,I'd rather prefer to see a range...I know UGA has about 10K plus students on auburn,,,that's 30% more "serviceable degrees that bring down the average...I'm sure that student body populations aren't considered in this comparison... A T test or perhaps a Z test would be able to handle the unequal sizes of the sample populations and consider the standard error for the estimated means for the individual groups. Maybe a z-test as the samples are pretty large. Standard deviation of the distribution of each group divided by the square root of the sample size of each group. So UGA would have a much smaller standard error being 30% larger than Auburn...I bet the the differences for the larger body schools would shrink..

Auburn engineering and VET schools are probably helping that number..(not sure if you have Pharm)

I'd be curious to see the numbers for UGA's vet, pharm, and law degrees...

Regardless,,,15yrs out,,,all of those numbers look low to me..

It wouldn't shock me if the average student from Georgia going to Auburn was better than the average student enrolling at Auburn in general.

First Year Class Profile at UGA

Above is the link for enrolling UGA students. But as was already said... everyone knew that the standards were higher.

It might only be about 14% of the enrolling student body at Auburn... but those 14% were rejects from UGA.
Congrats on lengthening the thread to a conclusion that everyone already knew.
