About to call it a night.

To anyone who checks in late tonight or tomorrow...

I will be away from the board until late Friday night...work and sons football game will keep me away.

I will post times and each step to the process by Saturday morning.

If we have some participants that do not verify they want to stay in the Mock Rankings, or if anyone wants out after looking at the posted times we may need to move this to the SECRant to have enough participants. I am ok staying here if we stay at 10+ verified members.

It is not going to require a lot of time on our parts. But it will require us to be available to check and post in the thread several times on Sunday afternoon and the ability to do so on a schedule.

I'm worried that there might be too much of a bias in this experiment. Maybe it should be opened up to tRant. If not we need to try and remain as objective as possible.

drtoboggan,

I agree 100%.

I think we will probably need to open in up to tRant to fill all the participant spots anyway.

I am about to post timelines for all participants...what will be required of everyone. Some of our already committed might decide it is not for them at that point.

Also, anyone who does not verify by tomorrow morning...I will assume they have backed out and reopen that spot. All that to say, I think we will be moving this thread to tRant sometime tomorrow. I will edit the title here if I/we decide to make the move.

The below are scheduled times for each step in this process. Each participant will probably only spend about 5 minutes actually “working” on this during each 30 minute block. Each participant needs to be able to check the thread and post the required info during each 30 minute block in order for this to work.

Timeline

(Sat. Night - 12:00 Sunday) - Post 25 best teams in random order

(12:30 - 1:00) - Post 6 best teams in random order

(1:30 - 2:00) - Rank Round 1 Pool List and post

(2:30 - 3:00) - Post 6 remaining best teams, random order

(3:30 - 4:00) - Rank Round 2 Pool List and post

(4:30 - 5:00) - Post 6 remaining best teams, random order

(5:30 - 6:00) - Rank Round 3 Pool List and post

(6:30 - 7:00) - Post 8 remaining best teams, random order

(7:30 -8:00) - Rank Round 4 Pool List and post

I think if we find 13 participants willing to give this a shot we will be able to make it a much smoother process in the future weeks.

I am going to post what my timeline will be Sunday so all can see why it is vitally important that we are able to check and post on schedule.

Also, don't worry if you are not sure what I mean by some of the terminology...just tried to leave this timeline as simple as possible with little explanations.

I am looking forward to this.

The only activities you as a participants will be involved in are the ones that start with "All"

The wife will most likely be mad at me by the time Sunday is over...does not look like I will be leaving the computer...

More Detailed Explanation of the above steps and terminology: (I will be coming back and editing this as time allows)

1. Post 25 Teams in Random Order
Each participant should create their own list of 25 best teams following Saturday nights games. In the actual committee process they will submit these lists and random order...so we will do the same.

2. Compile Master List
Once each participant has submitted their 25 teams I will create our Master List. This list will contain all teams that appear on at least 3 participants top 25 submission. We will refer back to the Master list each round.

3. Post 6 best teams in random order
Once the Master list has been posted to the forum each participant will select their 6 best teams from that Master List. We will follow the committees procedures and submit these 6 teams in random order at this point.

4. Rank Round 1 Pool List and post
Once the Round 1 Pool List is posted, each participant will rank those 6 teams from 1 to 6, with one being the best and then post their rankings.

5. Compile Seeds #1 - #3
Each Round 1 Ranking will be compiled. The 3 teams with the lowest point totals will be seeded #1 - #3 respectively.

6. Post 6 remaining best teams, random order
The 3 teams from Round 1 that did not receive one of the 3 seeds will automatically be placed in Round 2 Rankings. Each participant will select their next 6 best teams from the Master list and post them in random order. (Do not include the 3 teams that are being automatically placed in Round 2 Rankings)

To all participants:

1. Some have you have verified you still plan on trying this out. Your names are in bold in the OP. Those are the ones that are definitely in at this point.

2. Other initial participants. Please let me know you are still in ASAP. If I have not heard back for verification by early tomorrow morning, I will assume you have backed out.

3. I anticipate we will need to open this up on tRant...and as drtoboggan has suggested, it will probably be more interesting having fans from other schools anyway.

Thanks to all who are willing to give this a shot.

definitely will.

Once we get all participants lined up I am up for delegating each round to a different participant...for anyone interested.

And for those that can only commit to submitting their picks...that is fine as well.

But we will definitely look at splitting the work up when possible.

Thanks

What if we put our top 25 out and our top six out at the same time.
Save a step as Im sure if they make the top 6 they should probably be in everybody's top 25.

So list your top 25 in random order and just bold or bracket your own top 6.

Damnit!

Now I gotta go back and redo the time schedule.

I have thought about that and a couple other "time saving" changes but did not want to "bastardize" the process too much.

But I think what you are suggesting will definitely work and shorten the process a little.

Special Note: missing my sons football game tonight...not for this...but because I am home trying to pass my 537th kidney stone...on pain meds...so I will resist making any official changes until I know what I am typing...so ignore anything I might change tonight.

Yeah...I probably don't do this well enough consistently.

Last Urologist I went to told me that he had success "attacking" the oxalate portion of my calcium oxalate stones. He put me on a diet to try and reduce my oxalate intake. (for others that might be wondering...my understanding is that oxalates come from plants and are one of a plants defense mechanisms...small crystalline structures that irritate small insects)

It made sense to me...as I used to live off peanut butter, loved okra, and peppers. These were listed as high oxalate foods.

And there is a family history component.

But I know that what you are suggesting can make an impact...where I get in trouble is when I get busy and out of routine for an extended time. Especially when working outside...it was terrible when I used to coach and was outside all the time.

Thanks and I will be fine shortly.

We could create a standard form for submitting. Then write a piece of software to generate the results. Let me know, wouldn't take me long to make something

If you want to give it a shot...go for it.

I am assuming the process you are talking about would involve each of us emailing our completed form to you.

I made a gmail account earlier this week to use for this mock ranking, if the need arose.
