Patterson said UT won’t have problems paying the extra $6 million to its players. That money will break down to about $10,000 for each player. The money will cover college expenses that aren’t covered by a traditional full scholarship and give each player $5,000 in compensation for the university’s use of his image.

I don't like this at all. All this is going to do is open the floodates (which are only loosely shut as is) for people paying players. What's going to stop boosters now from giving kids hundreds of thousands of dollars?

Hey kid, how'd you afford all this nice new shite?
-oh, it was in my compensation package from the school.

Texas wants to open up the floodgates. They don't like the current setup with them being a shitty team in a shitty conference.

So they want a do over

Hypothetically, say a player plays really horribly on Saturdays. Since you're going to be paying the players, can you also fire them?

Because I want Driskel fired, today.

Just turn cfb into minor league with the pro teams bidding early for the Julio Jones/Adrian Peterson types. Win win.

I have been saying it for years. They need to pay the players about $10K/yr or $8-10/hr for every hour they spend during sports and sport related activities.
