"I'm scared to death for his safety," Robin Kiffin said of Saturday's game. "Some people were visiting us last weekend from Tennessee and they said they better not let him on the sideline (where Kiffin coaches at Alabama), they should put him in the press box. I want him to be in the press box."

Another interesting quote from the article:

quote:

Kiffin left the football complex in a police car. Kiffin's wife Layla received about 1,200 negative text messages after someone posted her cell phone number on a landmark rock in Tennessee, according to Robin Kiffin, Lane's mother.

"Their house was very hard to find and there were people looking into their window that night," Robin Kiffin said. "When my movers went several months later to move my stuff, people were yelling stuff at my movers and someone threw a cigar on our balcony and tried to burn our house down. It was all very unsettling for this to happen over a football coach."

What a terrible way to treat the coach who gave you your last season above .500

I'm sure Kiffin will be fine. He's a big boy.

All Kiffin really has to worry about being thrown at him is a bloody tampon from a drunk fan.

Then she should have focused on raising someone who wasn't a shitty person.

This seems so unnecessary.

I don't condone violence especially for a damn football game. But just this one time I'd be okay with it and let it slide if Kiffin gets KTFO by some redneck fan.

Most hilarious part is the actual jackassy things that Kiffin HAS DONE in his career were all things Tennessee fans loved and praised him for.

You can laugh, but the only thing Kiffin did to UT was change jobs. Something I myself has done, as well as most people

Its the jilted lover syndrome. Same with Saban and LSU. In Tennessee's case its worse because the last time they were worth a damn was under his watch. They suck now so they hate that he is doing good. When he was sucking it up at USC they reveled in his misery. Misery after all, lovers company.

Tennessee folks LOVED Kiffin up until the minute he said he was leaving. They were obsessed with him and the way he acted. Funny thing is, he hasn't acted like that at any other job except for the 12 months he was in Knoxville.
