LOL no? Mosely was a 3 time All American and is now running the Ravens defense without skipping a beat.

McKinney is a very good player but GTFO if you think its some slam dunk he's better than Mosely.

The only thing remotely close to what he stated was a thread last week talking about how this years egg bowl could be one of those "games of the century" that people kept saying about that game. Also, I don't think it was an Ole Miss or State poster either.

I have yet to read where anyone has spoken about the defensive comparison. This thread is stupid.

Ours is in the conversation as the best defense since those two units, for sure.

Team Defenses:
2011 Alabama: 8.2 pts/game, 184 yards/game
2011 LSU: 11.3 pts/game, 262 yards/game
2014 Ole Miss: 10.6 pts/game, 291 yards/game
2014 Miss. St.: 20.0 pts/game, 429 yards/game

What about offenses?

2011 Alabama: 34.8 pts/game, 429.6 yards/game
2011 LSU: 35.7 pts/game, 355.1 yards/game
2014 Ole Miss: 35.6 pts/game, 433.3 yards/game
2014 Miss. St.: 41.8 pts/game, 529.7 yards/game

MSU may be a bunch of no-name players outside of Dak, but the combination of those players is pretty damn good.

From the Ole Miss/Miss St. Dream Team thread

quote:

Henry Jones Jr

Nobody would ever score on this defense. LSU and Alabama's 2011 defenses would call this one "daddy"

That front 7 could go toe to toe in the NFL.

Ha wow. That team could beat the Saints. Real talk.

If it were me, I would have put a

McKinney = Mosely

Mosely was a great player at Alabama and turning out to be a good pro. The difference between the two is that Mosely got exposure on NC contending teams the entire time he was in college, and McKinney hasn't. Neither of us really have any idea what kind of awards he could have gotten if he were to have played on a better team.

McKinney is the best MLB in the country and projected as a 1st round pick, so to say unequivocally that Mosely is better than McKinney is dumb.

Meh, you could put Alabama's 2014 numbers up there too and say the same kind of thing.

2014 Alabama : 36.9 pts/game, 515 yards/game

Different SEC now than it was in 2011.

Our defense reminds me of a poor man's 2011 LSU unit with more strength from the interior DL than DEs.

This is true except claiming OM has more strength on the interior Dline. LSU was rotating 4 guys that are all on NFL rosters at the DT spots.

Still has to play two top 5 defenses.

but in the same thread, you're comparing defensive numbers from those years.......

If you're going to pass off offensive numbers this year "because it isn't the same SEC now"....then you need to do the same with defensive numbers.

Ah. I see. The different SEC applies to offenses now, but not to the defenses. Got it.

I'd agree with that, which makes what Ole Miss is doing even more impressive. That is a great unit.

Man you just pick and choose which points fit your narrative and which ones don't just get thrown out.

That's how you win a debate ranters.

2014 Ole Miss defense is very, very good (like top 10 of the last 10 years in the SEC good IMHO).

2014 State defense is one of a handful of the top 1/4 of defenses in the SEC. Good, but definitley not historic.

What makes this so impressive is some of the offenses LSU played that year.
