Tradishuns? Dr. Jones signed his death sentence when he conspired to eliminate our name "Ole Miss."

If he's a conspirator, he's brilliant. The save the Col. Reb folks are his best friends. For example, when From Dixie with Love was taken away, the administration gave the students two options:

They could stop saying TSWRA or FDWL would be banned. The folks who got FDWL banned said "they're gonna ban FDWL no matter what, this is just an excuse" so they decided to be defiant assholes and ruin a great fricking song for everybody. What if they hadn't chanted? A) we would still have from Dixie with love. B) The administration would have banned it, and the Ole Miss family would have come together against the administration with considerably more might, and gotten rid of them.

You assholes think your position is more popular than it is, and your radical ideology prevents you from building coalitions. Now you're trying to tie changing the name of confederate drive to changing the name of Ole Miss. New song, same dance. You people are the reason we can't have nice things like tradition.

I know our enrollment has been increasing, but how much of that is due to Jones' efforts? I think it would have do so if we had stuffed Forrest Gump as Chancellor. And while I admire his willingness to make a stand, I do think we can do better. And, yes, I hope we get rid of that ridiculous bear and either get Colonel Reb back or have the LandShark instead.

Yes it is his fault. He is the guy in charge and should have been aware of the idiots. If you want to say that the idiots would have come out of the woodwork no matter when or how the announcements were made, fine. I just think he could have done a better job slipping in changes while the rabble was dormant.

Bro do you think people outside of the deep south actually know who our chancellor is?

That doesn't matter.

"Tea Party governor fires university chancellor for specious reasons" is headline GOLD. And rightfully so. The governor should have no business dealing with Ole Miss leadership.

What's everyone's sentiment regarding Dan Jones? I've been gone for a few years now, so I don't really have my finger on the pulse of things anymore like you do when you live in Oxford.

He was given the keys to a Porsche that Robert Khayat built and hasn't yet wrecked the thing.

He also hired Bjork and has largely let him handle all things athletic, which makes him pretty great in my view.

Bjork is obviously Jones' puppet.

I think your reasons for not liking Dr. Jones are narrow, trivial, and petty.

The university is in better shape today than it was when he got here. Most of what he has done is simply not frick it up, but even then you've gotta give him at least some credit there.

Of course not. I love Ole Miss, and I always will. The belief that anything southern or confederate tied to Ole Miss is inherently worth preserving is radical ideology. There are many traditions that absolutely should be preserved at any cost. They have value and merit outside of being a "southern tradition". "Conservative" (in the classical sense) Ideologues don't make this distinction. They attack straw-men and slide down slippery slopes because they are terrified by change.
