Question about the Auburn game?

Last year we went down to Auburn without tickets. The cheapest I found were $200. Couldn't afford that. So we wound up watching the game inside the arena at Auburn. Is there anywhere like that in Athens that's family oriented to watch the games. Do they show them at Stegeman while the game is going on? I would love to be in Athens even if I can't get inside Sanford.

what do you consider "family oriented"?

I have never done what you're asking, but I believe the GA Theatre shows it on the big screen.

GA Theatre - if you get there early. Family friendly? Maybe not so much. Lotta beer flowing and f-bombs if the Dawgs are doing well.

I have no idea if they still do this but I watched the LSU game in '09 in Tate 2. They had a big drop down screen and it was mostly all families.

Even more f bombs if the Dawgs aren't doing well

Especially if it is a night game, the GA Theater will be backed to the gills and will not be "family friendly".

You may have to hit up some of the more family friendly chain restaurants in town. I think Buffalos might play the game on a big projection screen. Raffertys has a ton of TVs. Or Locos has a good atmosphere too.

If you are keeping it family friendly stay away from downtown. It is going to be roooowdy.

I think they project it on a large'ish screen (maybe 10 feet or so) in Tate 2. Not sure what the crowd is like. I'm sure it's family appropriate, but I question how large and enthusiastic the crowd is.

Disclaimer: I've never watched a game there myself, but I walked through one time after a game, and they had post game on there with a few people lounging around. This was last season.

Thanks for the info. Might have my kids with me is the reason I was asking about family oriented. If not I'll be in the ga theater. Or can you still stand on the bridge and watch a game?

I always see a lot of kids at the UGA conference center. 10 or so big screen TVs. Bar, restaurant, coffee shop and restrooms. Next to the Meyers quad if you are looking for tickets. This is where Gameday sets-up when they are here. Parking up the street toward Milledge or the Elementary school on Pinecrest.

Yep. I just called the Tate. They said it will be shown in the Theater and on a screen in the new part! So there are some options!
