Since completing its initial review of the eligibility matter involving UGA student-athlete Todd Gurley on October 9, the University has been supporting Todd and cooperating with his legal counsel as they review the matter.
Todd has confirmed his desire to seek reinstatement, and the University fully supports Todd's request. The University plans to file the necessary paperwork with the NCAA later today.
“I want to thank the University, coaches, teammates, and the Bulldog Nation for their patience and support,” Gurley said. “I take full responsibility for the mistakes I made, and I can’t thank the University, my coaches, and teammates enough for supporting me throughout this process. I’m looking forward to getting back on the field with my teammates.”
Gurley’s attorney, William King, said, “Todd has taken responsibility for his actions and is ready to rejoin his teammates. The University has been great throughout the past two weeks and has done everything it can to support Todd. I would especially like to thank President Morehead, Greg McGarity, and Coach Richt for standing by Todd.”
The University hopes for and expects a prompt ruling by the NCAA so that Todd, his coaches, and teammates can adequately prepare for our next game.

Am I just reading that wrong, or did UGA complete it's review of eligibility on October 9. If so, why wait until today to apply for reinstatement?

trust me, UGA fans are as pissed/confused as anyone. My guess is there were other dealers and other claims that popped up, and we had to make absolutely CERTAIN that we finished investigating EVERYTHING before we submitted.

That makes sense, just the way the release is worded it sounds like 'yea we finished, no real rush though, we're gonna get it out today.'
Good luck with it.

I haven't really been following this story... has he admitted he took money? If not, what mistakes did he make?

October 9th was the date in which we started the investigation and ruled him ineligible.

I would also add that it gave UGA a chance to to self impose another game on top of the 1 game mandated by the NCAA, all while having contol of the situation. If UGAAA applied for reinstatement last week and still sat him against Ark. the ground swell would have been much larger than it already was.

You guys are better off with Chubb.

Getting paid for selling and signing shite isnt new. its nothing but a G thang. Started by Fred Gibson and AJ Green. Gurley just continues the tradition.

The amazing part is FSU makes it seem like UGA was super harsh in penalizing him.
Winston could kill and still start the next week.

Everyone keeps saying this. Does nobody else realize we will play both? And we will play Sony Michel when he returns healthy, as well?
You are all so, so fricked.

It most likely means we concluded that TG3 took enough money to warrant a 2 game suspension
We informally asked for a reduced "sentence" at the meeting about the swimming coach & got told no.
Now, we expect the NCAA to honor our findings and go away well before the WLOCP

If it's the school that suspended Gurley, why does the school have to ask the NCAA to reinstate him? Can't the school just reinstate Gurley themselves? Hasn't the University of Georgia learned anything from Auburn, Texas A&M and Florida State about how you conduct a sham investigation after you find out your stud football player is on the take?
