Unlikely blueprint

quote:

In the early years, when the team lacked depth, Freeze would often swap his lineup every two minutes — five players in, five players out — so he could apply a relentless full-court press. Although the wholesale substitutions might have looked strange, they wore other teams out. By creating chaos on defense, Briarcrest was able to produce better shots in transition — in some ways, the basketball equivalent of a no-huddle offense.

quote:

Jada Mincy, a forward who was a key part of two state championship teams, said Freeze had a knack for getting his players to buy in. The role of pregame speaker rotated from player to player, although Freeze was not opposed to jumping in if he felt the energy was lacking. He had an endless supply of motivational material at the ready. “We would run through a wall for him,” said Mincy, who later played at Mississippi.

Interesting insight into a great coach.

The only thing untoward Freeze may have ever done would be bumming a dip from said girls basketball players.

Seriously though, Briarcrest sucks.

Not Freeze in particular.

More of a school policy. Tuition includes a log of Skoal per semester.

That's actually how he paid them.

A double-double got you a log of Red Seal.

They sound hardcore. Has anyone checked if them being more like dudes than women contributed more to their championships than Hugh Freeze's motivational material/progressive coaching style did?

In womensBB. Having a few strait she-beasts can get you to the front of the pack quick. Thats why the same schools are always tops in womens CBB.

Good article.

Before long, America will find he's he's not the wimpy wallflower that Sandra Bullock has to come down from the bleachers to coach up his Ohers up for him.

33-12 ATS as HC, 7-0 ATS in 2014..the gamblers sure love him! But, he's now become the chalk, and if keeps winning, the tax is rising here forth.

Please define "Great Coach".

Great high school girls' hoops coach?

Great guy?

Great teacher, leader, motivator?

Because here in the SEC, great coaches are defined by Championships, and your guy is not breathing that rarified air just yet....if ever.

The man is just a great coach. He won state championships in football and girls basketball. He's was successful everywhere before he got to Ole Miss and now has Ole Miss looking like one of the best teams in the country.
