Exciting SEC partnerships and bailing out the overmatched like Ole Miss

LSU was just granted $10 million in partnership with the Pennington Biomedical research to study obesity.

All kidding aside, given the problem this is in the south, it was exciting that this research is being done in our community. It got me thinking about all the wonderful things SEC schools have been doing recently that even 10 years ago, SEC schools likely would not have been the right partner.
For instance, apparently State has partnered with Toyota to build a pretty cool green energy park.
LINK
Auburn recently was tasked with tackling national security challenges, which given their history with Updyke, could help them out as well.
LINK
A&M got a massive contract to become a "vaccine Mecca."
LINK
Alabama recently partnered with Lockheed on an analytics lab. Really cool stuff.
LINK
It really is unbelievable that this kind of stuff is happening in our region at a time where it has become fashionable to hate on the south for being dumb or backwards.
My only concern is that there doesn't appear to be enough inter-school cooperation. For instance, the last inter-institution collaboration on important matters appears to be in 2003 between Ole Miss and LSU.
Ole Miss Lacks Qualifications to finish in Atlanta, engages other University to fill gap
That project only came about, it appears, because Ole Miss didn't have the "firepower" to finish the job. Thankfully, it found a willing partner in LSU to complete the project.
What do you guys think can be done to foster this kind of cooperation in the future and bring greater prosperity to our region?

Alabama also just got a $1.5M donation to the Accounting program by ex-Coke CFO and alum and a matching $1.5M by Mr. Culverhouse.

Had a great team with a Heisman candidate quarterback but NOOOO. LSU just HAD to have their best team in their school's history that year. Couldn't wait one more year. No. Those bastards HAD to do it in 2003

LSU was more than happy to handle your business in Memphis and Lubbock, but you guys insisted you "didn't" need help.

You aren't going to get many bites on this one but the effort and research to put this together is top notch.

The Alabama fan who lives in Tennessee doesn't get it. There's a shock.

You left out the cultural bias toward moobies. When people stop loving moobies, moobies will stop being cool enough to work toward them.

UM always chokes on the big ones; has to get LSU to swallow up & give the BJ a "happy ending".

Alabama also just recieved 3.8 Million to purchase a high powered pressure washer to wash away all the sidewalk fans.
In other news, Miss State just recieved 22 million to purchase bandwagons for all their fans.
